By Staff | Jan 4, 2017

Francis Rooney was sworn in to the 115th United States Congress on Tuesday. Rooney succeeds retiring Congressman Curt Clawson as representative for Florida’s 19th district.

“Congress must act quickly to repeal and replace Obamacare, which has sky rocketed health care costs for millions of Americans, stop President Obama’s job killing regulations, ensure veterans get the care they deserve, defeat radical Islamic terrorism, cut taxes, and fix our broken immigration system,” Rooney stated following the 3 p.m. swearing in ceremony. “In addition to these important national issues, I am focused on key local issues that effect the daily lives of all Southwest Florida residents. Restoring our Everglades and Lake Okeechobee Watershed, obtaining the federal funding owed for water quality projects in SWFL, and ensuring affordable flood insurance options for homeowners.

Congressman Rooney began his day by attending church services with his family, followed by an open house to welcome visitors to the Washington, DC office located in the Cannon House Office Building.
