Officials: Person of interest caught in vicious home invasion
Michael Anthony Moore
A suspect wanted in connection with a recent burglary, as well as a 2014 home invasion robbery, has been taken into custody.
On Dec. 20, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Warrants Task Force, with the assistance of Lee County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended Michael Anthony Moore, 20, in Lehigh Acres.
Moore was booked into the Lee County Jail on charges of burglary and larceny theft, with additional charges pending.
He is being held without bond.
Detectives believe Moore is responsible for breaking into a vehicle on Milagro Lane in Bonita Springs on Sept. 21, stealing a car title and various other items.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on Nov. 8.
In addition, Moore has also been named as a person of interest in a 2014 home invasion robbery in Bonita Springs.
During the late night hours of July 23, 2014, the victims were asleep in their Tuscany Way home.
Shortly before midnight, armed and masked suspects broke into the home, grabbed the couple and dragged them out of bed. The male victim attempted to fight back, but was struck by a taser in his facial area.
Both victims were tied up with rope, while being held at gunpoint, and forced to lay face down on the ground while the men rummaged through the house. The suspects left with cash and jewelry.
Despite the time that has passed since the incident, detectives have continually investigated the violent crime, and now believe that Moore played an active role that night.
Moore has two previous arrests in Lee on two counts of battery and one count of violating a domestic violence restraining order.
