To the editor:

We have been inundated with cries and accusations that the presidential election in 2016 had been hacked.

The Democrats wailed and marched. The Republicans denied any involvement.

The Democrats insist that this hacking resulted in Donald Trump being elected.

Well, I doubt that the Democrats would ever support the notion that the hacking was involved had they been successful in winning the election.

The point that seems to be missed is there are some points to consider.

First, was any hacking successful in the results of the election of any of those around the country? Many charges were thrown but none hit a target.

Second, we were blessed with the cry, “The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!” But none have been produced. Perhaps they were held up in “confusion traffic.” But there is more in that statement. Consider this, if there was indeed hacking did it come from Russia? Consider also, if it did originate from Russia was it the deliberate action of the Russian government? I am sure that there must be at least a half dozen programmers in Russia, that are not connected to the administration in Moscow, that could have exercised their computer programming talent for entertainment. Just to see if they could: if you will.

So, what do we as the public, really know about this? That it may or may not have happened at all. If it did happen where did it originate from? Was any foreign government involved?

We really do not know if anything actually took place. If it had I am sure the Republicans would make a fuss as well. Tampering with the electoral process serves neither party’s interests.

BTW, if any hacking was successful, it happened on Obama’s watch. Lest we forget!

Obama reacted in his typical weak fashion: He put the Russians in “timeout.”
