Stand against wrong
To the editor:
Congressman John Lewis stated that Donald Trump has no mandate to govern. Donald Trump immediately attacked John Lewis. Most of what Trump said was incorrect. Donald Trump’s ego was hurt. Whenever this happens he will hurt others without any consciousness.
Mr. Trump obtained only 27 percent of the popular vote. Fifty-four percent of voters voted for someone other than Trump. This certainly does not give him a mandate.
The fact that 90 million potential voters failed to vote is unacceptable. This creates the conundrum in which we find ourselves. This also points out that the right to vote in a free democracy is not just a right, it should be an obligation. If you did not exercise that right because of inability to make decisions then someone else will make decisions for you.
Many Americans disagree with this president and are voicing their disapproval.
Yes, he is a minority president but worse, he suffers from a severe ego control problem. This causes him problems. He also has a problem with truth; he tries to find clever ways to disguise this. Now that he has power he will be even more clever at manipulation.
One could guess where the origin of 3 million fraudulent voter figure comes from. This happens to be the popular vote by which Clinton beat Mr. Trump. I would not be surprised if he presents some vague proof of this claim to satisfy his assertion.
The majority (who are not in agreement with this government) should stand against wrong. Even more they have an obligation to stand and demand justice and fairness. It is true “that all government derives their just powers from the consent of the governed.” You must resist the urge to stop because of resistance or disappointment. We must not give him our consent as easy as some of us gave up our vote.
