Authorities: No arrests yet in vandalism case
No arrests had been made as of late last week for a criminal duo, who investigators say spray painted over 30 vehicles in two area of Lehigh Acres from Feb. 11-13.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has asked for the public’s help in identifying the two suspects, said Trish Routte, coordinator for Crime Stoppers.
“We are still actively looking for the male and female suspects, who we believe are tied to all 31 cars and four garage doors that were painted,” she said. “That said, there have been no arrests yet.
“We are confident that they are local to the Lehigh area – we just need someone to help us figure out who they are,”?Routte continued. “For as much damage as they did, surely they’ve told someone about their weekend shenanigans.
“We just need someone who heard or knows something to call us,” she added.
According to Routte, the first cars and garage doors were damaged in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 in the 5000 to 5300 blocks of Third Street West and Kenneth Avenue North.
She said surveillance cameras at one home captured images of the two lurking around a vehicle, then spray painting several vulgarities and phrases on it, before moving along to the next driveway.
Some of the more commonly used graffiti were the words “cheater” and “liar,” as well as the letter “X.”
According to officials, investigators said the next morning another string of vehicles in the 1000 to 1100 block of Alaska Avenue were damaged in the same way.
The suspects’ vehicle appears to be a small dark sedan and may have orange spray paint residue on the passenger side, detectives said.
Routte urged anyone who may have information on the two suspects to call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
