District: More than 200 Lee County teachers designated as ‘High Impact’

More than 200 teachers in Lee County were designated last week as “High Impact” by the Florida Department of Education.

A recent analysis of student performance on statewide standardized assessments found that the teachers have had a significantly positive impact on student learning.

The analysis used the most recent three years of data in the following subjects and grade levels: reading (grades 4-10), mathematics (grades 4-8) and algebra 1 (grades 8-9).

All high impact teachers received a letter thanking them for their hard work and commitment to our students, as well as a certificate recognizing their accomplishment.

The following teachers from area schools were recognized:

– The Alva School: Kathleen Bursztyn, Rico Moreno and Jaimee Zrebiec

– River Hall Elementary School: Courtney Bedell and Jane Berkley

– Harns Marsh Elementary School: Shauna Flock

– Lehigh Senior High School: Maria Torres and Robin Walden

– Varsity Lakes Middle School: Marissa Gard, Liliana Guerra-Cannata, Mark Irwin and JoEllen Stanley

– Lehigh Elementary School: Amy Depauw

– Mirror Lakes Elementary School: Danyelle Starks

– Harns Marsh Middle School: Katharine Pelter

– Riverdale High School: Mary Hill

– Lehigh Acres Middle School: Michelle Bell, Yordany Paneca and John Sirmans

– Sunshine Elementary School: Teresa Barker, Sarah Seevers and Michael Shattuck

– Veterans Park Academy For The Arts: Christina Alexander, Michelle Blackwood, Suzanne Garrett, Jaclyn Kustra, Kara Okeefe, Nathalie Reid and Beau Voltz
