Authorities: Reward increased in recent murder of Lehigh man
Less than a month after a 29-year-old was murdered in front of his Lehigh Acres home, the reward for information leading to the arrest of his killer or killers has been increased to $21,000.
Approximately 5 a.m. Jan. 30, Jontavious Thomas walked out of his home at 1107 Adeline Ave. to go to work. Thomas, whose wife was inside getting ready for work, was met with gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Last week, an anonymous donor pledged an extra $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for Thomas’ murder.
On Monday, Thomas’ former employer, Southern Gulf Equipment Rental, added an additional $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
“Jontavious was born and raised in Lee County, and leaves behind a wife and so many friends and family members who remain in shock that a young man with such a promising future could have his life taken so savagely,” Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers coordinator, said. “We hope that anyone with information on his murder would come forward because it’s the right thing to do, but the added reward money may be an incentive for some.”
“Anyone with information should remember that any tips provided through Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous – nobody will ever know you called,” she added. “And the details you may be able to provide could be key to providing closure for Jontavious’ family and justice for our entire community.”
Anyone with information on the murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $21,000.
