A Lehigh Acres driver died on Feb. 27 after she was thrown from a vehicle that struck a tree.

Nicole Jones, 47, was driving a Chrysler Sebring southbound on Bell Boulevard North, the Florida Highway Patrol reported in a prepared statement. At 11:42 p.m., the vehicle traveled off the west side of the road just south of Shadow Lakes Drive. The Chrysler then hit a standing tree and overturned.

Jones was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the collision.

According to the FHP, she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Jones was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.

The FHP reported that the crash was accident was alcohol related.
