Disaster, the sequel
To the editor:
Once again, our U.S. House has revised the American health care bill. According to President Trump, it’s all so wonderful.
I would hardly call it that.
This bill gives new meaning to an old con game called “bait and switch.” Why? The bill will grant people (you and I) coverage for a pre-existing condition BUT the states will have the right to be exempt from that part of the bill, allowing those conditions to be covered in a high-cost high-risk pool, where people such as cancer survivors will see premiums skyrocket by thousands of dollars a year. And millions others will still be thrown off their health insurance entirely. (For plan details, visit the website at: www.americanprogress.org/tag/affordable-care-act/)
Do We the People trust a bill that gives with one hand and takes away with the other? It is my hope people will reject this shabby tactic. Call your House member (202-224-3121); you can look up who represents you in the House online at: www.house.gov/representatives/find/.
This is the proof that the U.S. House cannot produce a good bill. Hopefully the Senate will produce a bill that will build on Obamacare’s successes, not try to fuel its failure.
