LCSO hosts monthly awards

Humanitarian concern, honesty, integrity, positive decision-making and heroism were recognized on April 27 at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s “Do The Right Thing” awards ceremony.

Each month throughout the school year, the LCSO honors the positive actions of the community’s students through the program. The goal is to reinforce positive behavior among youths and to establish students as role models for their peers.

The local students honored were:

– Jonathan Young, of Lehigh Acres, fifth-grader at Mirror Lakes Elementary School

– Marlen Mejia, of Lehigh Acres, fifth-grader at Sunshine Elementary School

– Aryana Appadoo, of Lehigh Acres, fifth-grader at Sunshine Elementary School

– Allyson Fichter, of Alva, fifth-grader at Bayshore Elementary School

– Shennel Jolly, of Lehigh Acres, sixth-grader at Harns Marsh Middle School

– Nathaniel “Nate” Hedrick, of Alva, eighth-grader at Mariner Middle School

– Samantha Taylor Smith, of Lehigh Acres, ninth-grader at Riverdale High School
