Lee DOT to improve southwest intersections

By Staff | Jun 2, 2017

The Lee County Department of Transportation will make improvements to two intersections on Leonard Boulevard in Lehigh Acres the week of June 12.

Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for detours on side streets.

No lanes on Leonard Boulevard will be closed.

A DOT contractor will work 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 12-13 at Leonard Boulevard and Hightower Avenue. Workers will then move east on June 14 to the intersection of Leonard Boulevard and Haviland Avenue.

Variable message boards will go up the week of June 5 and detours will be posted.

Weather permitting, work will be completed by June 15.

Crews will improve drainage at the intersection by replacing drain pipes. The project will also help alleviate congestion on Leonard Boulevard through the addition of a turn lane.

The project is timed to coincide with summer school closures, as many bus stops are in the area.
