Class of 2017 earns millions in scholarships
Early data shows that the Lee County School District’s Class of 2017 graduates earned more than $53 million in scholarships.
Of the students who provided information, they plan to:
– Attend a four-year college or university: 1,828
– Attend a two-year community/state college: 1,621
– Attend a technical college/school: 398
– Enter the workforce: 254
– Enter the U.S. Armed Forces: 192
– Uncertain of future plans at this time: 329
– Other: 221
Summer Teacher Recruitment Fair set
The School District of Lee County is hosting its Summer Teacher Recruitment Fair on June 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Lee County Public Education Center, at 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.
The event is by invitation only; those interested in receiving an invitation can register at: www.lee-schools.net/careers at the “Summer Teacher Recruitment Fair” vacancy, using Job ID 20171888.
Registration must be completed by June 16.
Eligible candidates who have registered will receive an email invitation by June 19.
The district is hiring to fill a range of positions, including elementary, middle and high school teachers, special education, science and mathematics teachers and reading and language arts teachers.
Representatives from Lee schools will be in attendance to conduct interviews, and they will be hiring for the upcoming 2017-18 school year, with contracts issued on a case-by-case basis.
Necessary qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or higher, valid Florida teacher certification covering area of responsibility, demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and experience with industry-standard computer applications.
Candidates are asked to come prepared with a supply of resumes, letters of reference, teaching certificate or statement of eligibility and a general idea of preferred schools.
Participants are also encouraged to arrange interviews with preferred schools in advance of the fair.
Candidates should send transcripts, a valid teaching certificate and the instructional document submission form to the district’s Human Resources Department in advance of the event or deliver documents to the information station at the recruitment fair.
