A man accused of robbing a Chase Bank earlier this month is now behind bars.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that Trevon Damien Armstrong, 24, of 610 8th Ave., was arrested and charged on July 24 with robbery no firearm or weapon and violation of probation.

As of today, he remains in custody at the Lee County Jail on no bond.

Armstrong is a repeat offender, who has been committing felony crimes since he was a teenager, according to officials. At 16, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and a gun, as well as multiple counts of burglary and theft. As an adult, he has been jailed for the sale and delivery of drugs, as well as numerous weapons charges, like culpable negligence of leaving a loaded firearm out in the open.

At about 4:10 p.m. July 7, Armstrong reportedly walked into a Chase Bank, at 15501 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, and showed the teller a note. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot, possibly to a vehicle waiting nearby.

Armstrong has court dates scheduled for Aug. 7 and Aug. 28.
