Jadell Gilyard

The Fort Myers Police Department reported that Jadell Gilyard, 35, of Fort Myers, has been arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular manslaughter in relation to the fatal crash that occurred at Colonial Boulevard and state Road 82.

Gilyard was taken into custody on July 22.

According to officials, the FMPD responded to a single-vehicle crash on June 2 at the intersection. A passenger in the vehicle, Zavante Xavier Nappern, 22, of Lehigh Acres, was killed in the accident.

Alcohol/drugs and excessive speed were suspected factors in the crash, officials reported at the time.

As of July 24, Gilyard had been released from the Lee County Jail on $100,000 bond, according to booking records.
