Vet Tech Services of SWFL servicing Lee

Veterinary technician Regina Greene announces the opening of Vet Tech Services of SWFL.

Greene is a lifelong Lee County resident, a graduate of the University of Florida and worked as a veterinary technician under the direction of a sole-practitioner for over 15 years.

She has been actively pet sitting and offering in-home pet care service for nearly three years.

Greene noticed firsthand the worried and nervous faces when handing out take home instructions – and many times the owners pointedly wished for her services at their home. She decided to take her current pet sitting appointments to the next level by offering additional at home services.

Walking and feeding pets during owner absence is a function of her business. She also provides services for special needs and senior pets, as well as pet and pet-related transportation and house sitting.

Greene also offers boarding in her own home.

Local United Way seeking Pacesetters

The United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee has begun its 2017-18 Pacesetter recruitment.

Pacesetter companies help kick off the United Way campaign by running their campaigns early, helping set the tone and leading by example.

United Way is seeking companies that want to set the pace toward United Way’s first $10 million goal. Last year, 160 companies and organizations served as Pacesetters, raising 60 percent of the goal.

New Pacesetter companies must raise a minimum of $1,000. Renewing Pacesetters are asked to strive for a 5 percent increase in giving.

Pacesetter companies must complete their campaigns no later than Oct. 16.

To become a Pacesetter, visit: www.UnitedWayLee.org/Pacsetters or call 239-433-2000.

Housing Authority receives high scores

The Lee County Housing Authority received a high performance status in the Public Housing Assessment System 2017 report.

HUD’s Real Estate Assessment Center effectively and fairly measures the performance of a public housing agency using the PHAS. As the centralized system of REAC, the Integrated Assessment Subsystem electronically collects individual subsystem scores, produces a composite PHAS score and communicates the results that represent a PHA’s management performance.

LCHA scored 91 points out of a possible 100. PHAS indicators used for the scoring included physical, financial, management and resident reviews as well as financial sub-indicators including current ratio, months expendable funds balance, tenant receivable outstanding, occupancy loss, net income and expense management.

The LCHA oversees 142 low-income rental units at three sites in North Fort Myers and administers 271 vouchers in Lee County.
