Free Rec Camp to open at Alva Community Center
Lee County Parks & Recreation will host an additional Rec Camp to assist working parents whose children are off school this week due to Hurricane Irma.
The Alva Community Center will open at 8 a.m. Sept. 19 and remain open through the week. Camp runs until 6 p.m. daily.
Rec Camps are for ages 6-13 and are free.
Alva attendees do not need to register online; registration will be handled in person at the site.
Space is limited; attendees will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Parents will be asked to sign a waiver, which will be provided on site.
Campers are asked to bring their own lunches, snacks and water.
Rec Camp daily activities may include organized games, sports, crafts and music.
This is not a childcare program; children are allowed to enter/leave at-will.
The county is not able to provide meals or transportation.
Parks & Recreation is planning Rec Camp at additional locations this week, as facilities have power restored and more buildings become available. Check online at: www.leeparks.org or www.leeeoc.com.
The Alva Community Center is at 21471 N. River Road, Alva.
