Post-Irma insurance village, disaster recovery center set
The Department of Financial Services will hold an on-site insurance village and comprehensive disaster recovery center on Sept. 21 in Lehigh Acres.
Co-hosted by CFO Jimmy Patronis and Sen. Marco Rubio, the event will feature local, state and federal partners in an effort to offer the public a wide array of relief assistance in one centralized location. It will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road S.
Insurance experts from the Department of Financial Services will be on hand to answer insurance-related questions and concerns. Several insurance companies with policies in the impact area will also be on-site to help residents file post-storm claims.
As of Monday, the following entities had confirmed their participation:
– Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
– American Red Cross
– Florida SBDC Network
– U.S. Small Business Administration
– Florida Departments of Children and Families and Economic Opportunity
– First Data Corporation
– Anheuser-Busch Companies
– CareerSource Florida
– ElderSource
– United Way of Florida
– The Salvation Army
Consumers are encouraged to bring copies of all insurance policies with them.
