VegHeads giving seeds
The VegHeads 4-H youth club has vegetable seeds available at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road S.
The variety packs are free.
The seeds were donated by Rural King, of Bonita Springs.

LCDAS participating in ‘Find Your Fido”
During October, Lee County Domestic Animal Services joins the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on the Find Your Fido initiative.
The ASPCA #FindYourFido campaign is designed to expand the digital exposure for animals in shelters nationwide and raise awareness about the benefits of adopting a pet.
LCDAS will reduce its adoption fee for dogs (and cats) older than 6 months to just $30.

The shelter is at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers. Adoption hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Nature walk coming
Lee County’s Conservation 20/20 will host a free guided nature walk Oct. 7 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Telegraph Creek Preserve, at 16451 North River Road, Alva.
Volunteer naturalists will identify native plants, wildlife and birds.
Trail may be slightly wet; wear closed-toe shoes, no sandals. Bring water bottle, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club meets at 7:30 a.m. in the Community Room at Hope Hospice, at 1201 Wings Way.

Garden Club of Lehigh Acres to hold meeting
The Garden Club of Lehigh Acres will meet Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Fountain Crest Retirement Community, at 1230 Taylor Lane.
Guest speakers Bob and Frenny James, with Moringa Spendour, will talk about “Growing and Using the Moringa Tree.” Learn about the tree itself and what parts can be used to improve one’s health.
Moringa products will be on display for purchase.
The business meeting will follow, including the installation of officers and a discussion of upcoming programs and field trips.
The monthly 50/50 drawing and plant auction will also be held.
Annual dues are $15 per member or $25 per couple; new members and guests are welcome.

Dance-a-thon to benefit ACT
A dance-a-thon will be held Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon, at 2158 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.
Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winner in two categories: most dollars raised and most dances completed.
First place will receive a concert package of 10 tickets to see William Michael Morgan Oct. 27, along with a table for 10 and two meet-and-greet passes.
Second place will receive a four-pack of tickets to see Morgan.
There is a $5 cover charge for admission; 12 and under are free. Attendees are asked to wear purple in support of the cause.

General Woman’s Club meeting scheduled
The General Woman’s Club of Lehigh Acres will hold a quarter auction Oct. 21 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Sweatlock Hall at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd.

Records seminars set
The Lee County Clerk of Courts will host the following seminars:
– Oct. 25: The Value of Searching Public Records & Online Services from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lakes Regional Library, at 15290 Bass Road, Fort Myers
Learn what to do if you suspect fraud, waste or financial mismanagement involving court-appointed guardians over elderly, minor children and incapacitated individuals. Learn how to search public records for copies of deeds and mortgages; review court records of prospective tenants, employees, contractors and doctors; pay traffic tickets online; and request postponement or excusal of Jury duty.
– Nov. 15: Foreclosure Process Workshop from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Fort Myers Regional Library, at 2450 First St., Fort Myers
Educate yourself about the foreclosure process. Understand the role of the Clerk’s Office in the bidding process. This workshop covers the general flow of the foreclosure bidding process.

Lehigh Concert Band to present performance
The Lehigh Concert Band will perform Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres, at 200 Lee Blvd.
It will be a salute to U.S. veterans with the “Armed Forces Salute,” “Hymn of Freedom,” “Dam Busters March,” “The Blue and the Gray,” “America” from “West Side Story” and more.
The concert is free; donations will be accepted.
The band is always accepting new musicians who play at a senior high school level, college level or above. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Pool offering classes
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.
A range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.
Eight classes for $50.
Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

Plant, tree sale set
A plant sale will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakes Regional Park, at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.
It includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.
Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions.
The Lehigh Children’s Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.
