Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution in Lehigh Acres as the Lee County Department of Transportation begins work Thursday, Sept. 20, to extend the Gunnery Road median further north from Lee Boulevard.

The work will extend the median about 50 feet north of Fifth Street West to close the intersection to all left turns. The intersection has been the site of 17 crashes in the past two years involving vehicles making left turns.

The project is expected to be complete by Sept. 27. Signs will be posted notifying motorists of the work.
