Church of Nazarene holding food distribution, free Wednesday dinner

By Staff | Sep 26, 2018

The community is invited to attend the Lehigh Acres Church of Nazarene food distribution days, as well as donate supplies for those affected by Hurricane Florence.

Kasey Moore, with the Lehigh Acres Church of Nazarene, said Midwest Food Bank will bring a truck full of various foods to the church, 210 Lee Blvd., from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Sept. 26, and Wednesday, Oct. 10. The supplies include such items as crackers, canned goods, chicken breasts, hamburgers, donuts, vegetables and snacks.

“Anyone and everyone can be a part of distribution,” Moore said.

Every Wednesday night, the church also offers a free meal from 5 to 6 p.m. The meal is a balanced dinner with a drink and dessert, Moore said, adding the meal ranges from such items as hot dogs, burgers, Shepard’s pie, tacos and spaghetti.

“Every week is a different meal,” Moore said.

On Sept. 17, the church began collecting hurricane supplies for those affected by Hurricane Florence. Supplies received so far include canned goods, water, trash bags and cleaning supplies.

“We are collecting supplies from now until October 13 to help the people affected by Hurricane Florence. The people in the Carolina area came to help us after Hurricane Irma and now it is our time to return the favor and help them,” Moore said.

Donations may be dropped at the church from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29, as well as during normal business hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
