Craft & Vendor Sale slated for Oct. 20

By Staff | Oct 4, 2018

The third annual Craft & Vendor Fair will be held this month at the Lehigh Acres Senior Center featuring up to 20 vendors and crafters.

Lehigh Acres Senior Center Director Melissa Barry said the event came about after she had quite a few people wanting to set up little displays of their things.

Instead of going that route, she figured having a Craft & Vendor Fair would work better, especially for those who are selling their wares to supplement their income.

“It has been successful,” she said.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Lehigh Acres Senior Center, 219 Plaza Drive.

The fair is also open to the public. Those interested in having a table are welcome to join. It is $15 a table for nonmembers and $10 for Lehigh Acres Senior Center members.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Barry said.

Last year the event was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma, but years prior anywhere from 15 to 20 vendors set up a table.

This year’s event will feature such items as quilts, stained glass, baskets and jewelry.

“It’s just nice stuff,” Barry said of the jewelry. “Nice, inexpensive stuff.”

Barry said the fair provides her members with the opportunity to showcase their stuff, while selling it to the public. She said you can only make so many teddy bears and pine needle baskets to give to your loved ones.

“This gives everyone an opportunity to see what they’ve made. Most of it is relatively cheap,” she said.
