Some clarification
To the editor:
I see letters from Democrats citing everything wrong with our country as a GOP action. Example is a recent letter that used the phrase “GOP raided Social Security.” I would hope for a little more realism.
The problems that we have today were not made in a year. There was an evolution of the problem. Remember in the last 58 years, the White House was held by Democrats for 28 years and by Repub-licans for 30 years. The House was dominated by the Democrats for all but 18 years. The Senate for somewhat more than the House but still dominated by Democrats. Obama may have been the only president with a majority of 60 in the Senate that enabled him to be free from Republican filibusters.
In fact, it was a Democrat, LBJ, who began to raid the Social Security fund.
The specific item that begs a response is the benefit of birth control. In Demo-cratic language that means abortion has a prominent role. Unwanted children are a curse for a woman and our country is implied. But less than 5 percent are aborted for health or rape reasons. The balance is essentially abortion being used as birth control. Birth control prior to conception is a totally different situation than birth control of a living unborn baby. There is a life and death difference.
