… and the walls came tumbling down!
To the editor:
Once again the public is faced with more horrible stories of a youths being sexually abused by priests. Most notably the priests involved are Jesuits but other Orders are also included. And why is this?
It is not a subject that is easily spoken about, after all these are priests! And from early in life we are told of the respect that they command because they work for God. Wow, try to imagine the mental jumps and hoops that one needs to navigate this chart of misconduct. Those of deep faith in their religion are uncomfortable with this notion and some excuse this behavior by ignoring it. However, their victims cannot enjoy such ignoring and each day they are faced with bearing this awful secret of personal invasion. No more shuffling these offending priests from one parish to another to protect the honor and name of the Church. They must be made to own up to their crimes and be put on trial and if convicted, let them save souls in prison!
