Calendar Girls to perform at Lehigh Regional Medical Center
Tickets are now on sale for the Lehigh Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary fundraiser, which will benefit their medical scholarship fund, and feature the Calendar Girls.
The performance will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Lehigh Regional Medical Center Caf. Tickets are a $10 donation.
Those interested in tickets can stop by the Gift Shop Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday when Lehigh Regional Medical Center Gift Shop Director Liz Eilf is working, or call her at (239) 218-7883.
“I can make arrangements for the tickets. I can put their name on an envelop and they can pay at the front desk,” she said.
Eilf said she saw an article in the Lehigh Citizen last month regarding a Calendar Girls performance. When she was the director of Lehigh Community Services she had to raise $150,000 a year for all the projects they had, which fueled her love of doing fundraisers.
The article initiated an idea to ask the hospital’s CEO if they could have the Calendar Girls perform to raise money for their scholarship fund.
“He said yes,” Eilf said. “We are going to bring in the desserts and punch and I got door prizes.”
With the caf only being open during the morning hours for the public on Saturday, an afternoon performance fit into the hospital’s schedule.
“They are a lot of fun and they are good,” she said of the Calendar Girls. “They bring their own music. I have been volunteering for 10 years. I am going to be 80 in May. I’ll have my second retirement at the end of the month, so my goal is to sell 50 tickets, so I can make $500 for one scholarship.”
The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the auxiliary’s scholarship fund, which began more than 10 years ago. The requirements for the scholarship are the applicant has to be a resident of Lehigh Acres and be 18 years old, or older, pursing anything in the medical field. Applications currently are being accepted and can be found at the front desk of the Lehigh Regional Medical Center lobby.
The hospital’s gift shop, which is run by the auxiliary, supports the scholarship fund. Eilf said the auxiliary purchases everything for the gift shop with the proceeds from the sales going into the scholarship fund.
“Last year we gave out five scholarships,” she said.
Eilf said they are in need of volunteers for the gift shop, which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. She is looking for someone who can volunteer one day a week. If someone is interested in volunteering during those same hours on the weekend, Eilf said they will open the doors on Saturday and Sunday.
