To the editor:

What I don’t understand is Sheriff Marceno is doing a good job but some find it necessary to criticize success.

Many of you did not say anything when Mike Scott was ruling the county.

Then along came Sheriff Marceno who is not able to be bought or coerced into allowing the good old boys club to run rampant.

I see Sheriff Marceno with a flat jacket out in field standing in front of drug dealers.

I see him on the news telling the public about issues in Lee County.

I see him answering his phone when the public calls.

Mike Scott never answered his phone.

I see Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass answer his phone.

I see school board member Mrs. Gittens answer her phone.

I see Detective Trescott answers his phone.

I see the fire chief in Lehigh Acres answers his phone.

I see community police officer Heinrich answer his phone.

I see Patty from the county manager’s office answer her phone.

I see Captain Jackaci email or talk to citizens

I see Vincent Berta, Code supervisor being proactive.

I see Doty, Code Enforcement going extra miles.

I see INTEGRITY in these people who work for us in Lee County.

What I am not seeing so many people who criticize progress.

I see people complaining that change is not good.

I see TV stations going out of their way to find a story and, in reality, not reporting news but making news. News stations taking sides in political parties trying to make their case of who they want in office.

If I understand it, the sheriff is an elected position and being a law enforcement officer is not a requirement.

So when things are getting better people seem to want to make issues that they are not doing a good job?

One TV station is throwing mud when they should report the news not make it.

Another news station seems to put the issues of one candidate and don’t want to portray the other candidates.

The idea of people accepting changes seems to be reality.

The office of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is a job that I feel to be so important.

In past weeks some layoffs happened and this change is not sitting well with old regime ideas of good old boys club.

I encourage Sheriff Marceno to keep cleaning house.

That takes courage which most people don’t have.

Sheriff Marceno, you have my support 110 percent and those of you that have any racist beliefs or good boys club tendencies, it is time for you to go.

The key take away is keep doing the job you were hired to do and the hell with the people who are not accepting positive changes.

Keep in mind that many people in Lee County like what they are seeing by your leadership.

I expect the leadership not to bow down to those whose only interests are to themselves and not the public in Lee County.

For those who do not embrace the path Lee County is going my suggestion is to get the hell out of Lee County.

There is no room for growing backwards.

Sheriff Marceno, keep plugging along and the Lee County people will support you.

As the Mike Scott regime is done and anybody who tries to bring it back will be not allowed to succeed.

Our success is in your hands, Sheriff Marceno.

I trust you and that says a lot.

We will survive this and Lee County is the best place in the world to live because of your passion and commitment.
