Residents ill-represented at Commission meeting
To the editor:
The Lee County Commissioners’ zoning and comprehensive plan meeting on Aug. 21 was a disaster.
I want to thank Commissioner Frank Mann for representing the residents.
The last meeting prior to this one, Map 14 was eliminated.
There is pending legal action to appeal.
Therefore, on Aug. 21, why was the Troyer Brothers Map 14 Amendment on the agenda?
Why expedite the Troyer Brothers’ application?
The action should have been removed/postponed by a Commissioner’s motion until the lawsuit has been settled.
The Commissioners eliminated Map 14. How can you amend it?
It was just a matter of formality to approve Troyer Brother Mining 4-1 with Commissioner Frank Mann making the lone objection. Mann is an ethical official.
Are these decisions made in private before the legal public meeting?
Since 2010, Troyer Brothers , family and their associates have been giving political support and donations to elected Commissioners.
It has the appearance of “pay to play” politics.
As for the Pendergrass promise to not vote for mining next to southeast Lee residents, well, he did.
He approved the Troyer Brothers mine.
His displayed bully behavior at the end was revealing.
