Cavaliers Domino Club moves to new location

By Staff | Oct 2, 2019

The Lehigh Acres Cavaliers Domino Club, which has been operating out of the same location for more than seven years, is currently in the process of renovating the clubhouse at Mirror Lakes Golf Club, which has been closed for a while.

Vernon Angel, in charge of public relations for the club, said they received a notice from Majestic Golf Club that they wanted to go in a different direction and gave them a three months notice, which they thought was fair because they would have given them a two-month notice if they had found another location.

After searchingm Angel said they found that Mirror Lakes was vacant with a lot of parking space, which they wanted.

“We moved in Friday (Sept. 20). We moved everything from Majestic. I think we are aiming for another week and a half to officially open,” he said. “We are renovating the clubhouse. We are almost finished. They gave us permission to do whatever we need for our requirements. It is smaller than Majestic, but it meets our requirements.”

Angel said the members of the club are very impressed with what they have done so far, as far as the renovations, and they all like the location as well.

The club is still offering rentals for such occasions as meetings, parties and weddings.

“The location is so good that we have a room that they can rent out for the meetings even when we have domino going. There are no interruptions,” he said.

The club meets every second Monday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. They also play dominos Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday if the space is not rented out. He said they play bingo between domino on Friday evenings with the proceeds going towards their scholarship fund.

“We are looking for new members as well. We are always interested to have them come to one of the meetings to see what is going on,” Angel said.

Membership fee is $10 a month with a $35 initial payment.

Mirror Lakes Golf Club is at 670 Milwaukee Blvd. For more information, call Angel at (239) 691-7177, or email him at vernonangel8@aol.com.
