Indoor soccer offered at Veterans Park
Children looking to play soccer still have the opportunity to sign up for indoor play at the Veterans Park Recreation Center.
Veterans Park Recreation Senior Program Specialist Tanya Ray said they had an indoor soccer program in the past, but it went on hiatus when organizers decided to take a break.
“It was such a high demand that everyone was asking for indoor soccer for the kids to play,” she said.
The Black-Stars Jr. & Sr. Inc. Youth Indoor Soccer is offering an Intro-to-Soccer program for children 5 to 12 years old, at Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Rd. S.
The high-energy program opened Nov. 2 and runs through Dec. 16. It provides creative games and drills to teach such basic skills as dribbling, passing and shooting. It is $80 per player and a game shirt is included. Registration is still open.
The schedule includes Saturdays 9:30-11:30 a.m. for ages 5 to 6 years old; Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for ages 7 to 8 years old; Saturdays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 10 years old and Sundays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for ages 11 to 12 years old.
“We are definitely excited about it,” Ray said.
