The East Lee County Chamber of Commerce will host “Politics in Park” at its offices inside Lehigh Town Center, 25 Homestead Road N, Lehigh Acres.

The event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., and will be held outside on the adjacent green with COVID-19 safety practices in place.

The event offers an opportunity for the public to have a meet and greet with candidates running for election to local seats. Each candidate will have a table set up, where guests can get the chance to speak with them one-on-one.

According to Michael Welch, chairman of East Lee County Chamber of Commerce, this is a Chamber tradition and the public is invited but with limited spaces due to social distancing practices.

“There will be many candidates running for offices that the Lehigh residents vote attending, as well as candidates running for the six Lee Health Board seats. That’s why it’s extremely important for members of the community to meet these candidates, because these are the people making health decisions that affect the Lehigh Acres community,” Welch said.

The chamber also invited candidates for congressional and state legislature seats that represent Lehigh Acres.

“Other local office candidates that will be attending include the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District and the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services District,” Welch said.

The evening also will feature a German Oktoberfest with music, food and beer served during the “Politics in the Park” event.

Those who wish to attend must RSVP to the East Lee County Chamber office at 239-369-3322.

The East Lee County Chamber of Commerce, formerly the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce, has a centrally located Welcome Center in Lehigh Acres. Residents can find a variety of information about East Lee County including materials outlining businesses, attractions, parks, maps, and more.

Its volunteers are on-hand to help visitors and guests find their way around the region and offer recommendations.

According to Welch, the local chamber is still thriving even amidst the COVID-19 crisis and has assisted businesses with obtaining information and help through both county and state programs.

East Lee County Visitors Center is at 25 Homestead Rd. N, Lehigh Acres.
