I read the news today, no joy

To the editor:

Sure hard to read the paper today.

Story of crime in the cities describes a store owner who has been robbed five times in the last 6 months thanks to the catch-and-release now prevalent in cities. The same robbers come back over and over. Police officers are leaving with early retirement and some seeing the hopelessness are just quitting. People are not safe in our cities.

The latest job report showed less than 1/3 of the new jobs accepted even though employers are crying for help. Some speculate that the government is giving away so much newly printed money that many would take a pay cut to work. Pelosi suggested that the solution is to give away more money.

The Middle East is heating up again. We are giving the Palestinians more money so the rocket attacks on Israel have begun again. There is an expectation that we will release more money to Iran, the terrorist capital of the world.

China is becoming the main economic factor in many continents especially South America and Africa. The trillions that she has derived from the trade imbalance have given her the capital and leverage to be challenging America’s economic leadership. She is even dictating to American companies how they will operate.

Evidently voting for one’s personal wants or emotional feelings instead of America’s needs is not working. Identity politics will win elections and then you are free to govern any way you want.
