A Southwest Florida Symphony jazz trio will perform for free during “Battle of the Arts” on Aug. 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bell Tower Artistic and Operations Center in Fort Myers, while 26 artists compete across the strip.
It will perform jazz and Latin standards, including songs by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim and more. Both children and adults are invited to check out the “Musical Sound Lab,” which will allow visitors the opportunity to play some string and percussion instruments.
The trio includes Tom Pizzi on piano, Alex Albanese on bass and Isaac Fernandez on drums.
Hosted by Artsemble Underground and Bell Tower, “Battle of the Arts” is held on the second Saturday of every month through 2021, with performances by the Southwest Florida Symphony’s ensembles.
Artists have three hours to create a new work of art, competing in two categories: the All-Star Award and People’s Choice. At 8 p.m., a panel of celebrity judges review their work and choose a winner.
