The Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres is holding a golf tournament this weekend to raise money to feed families in need this Thanksgiving.

David Butler, a member of the Kiwanis Club, said this is the first time they are holding the Kiwanis Turkey Frolic Scramble. He said they have a goal of purchasing turkeys for 400 students, ideally 2,000 Lehigh families.

In order to serve the Thanksgiving meal, they are also working with the Key Club, which is collecting canned goods for the meal.

Butler said they have provided turkey dinners to families in the past. This year, he said, they have decided to do it as a fundraiser, as they have more students they are trying to help.

“We are working with counselors inside the school system,” Butler explained, adding that they are able to assist in choosing students and families that are in need.

The scramble will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, check-in at 7 a.m., followed by the scramble at 8 a.m., at Majestic Golf Club, 350 Homestead Road, S. It is either $75 per player, or $260 for a team of four golfers.

The registration fee includes range use, breakfast, snack and lunch.

“With each of those players, $75 sponsors two turkey dinners in return,” Butler said.

Those interested in registering can email Contact@LehighAcresKiwanis.info, call Butler at 239-336-4852, Rick Anglickis at 239-369-2113 or visit www.LehighKiwanis.com.

Butler said they will also take people the day of the scramble. He said at the end of the day it is all about helping families in need.
