Beginning this month, the IMAG History and Science Center has new hours. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.(closed on Tuesdays), and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The IMAG is a family-friendly destination featuring interactive exhibits, aquariums, hands-on activities, history displays, and more, inspiring the imagination in all of us.
Some attractions featured at the IMAG include Science on a Sphere, an interactive exhibit that illustrates the sciences of our earth; Google Earth Wall that allows people to virtually climb the world’s tallest mountains, dive into the deepest canyons, visit exciting cities, learn about exotic animals, and more; and Shaping SWFL Watersheds, an interactive, augmented-reality sandbox generating live topographical maps and fluid dynamics in real time. Guests can touch and feed a stingray in the Sea-to-See Touch Tanks and visit the Living Lab to see turtles, tortoises, snakes, frogs, and other reptiles. What’s more, guests can view 3D movies in our theater and see a replica of the USS Mohawk in our 3,200-gallon aquarium, home to several species of tropical fish and built by Animal Planet’s “Tanked” TV show. While IMAG history exhibits span from the Ice Age to early 1900’s Fort Myers, the IMAG Weather Experience includes a hurricane simulator and exhibit, Touch-a-Cloud, and the IMAG Weather TV Studio. On the grounds of the museum, guests can also feed fish in the Fisheye Lagoon, discover the Lake Okeechobee Aquarium, and enjoy the Caloosahatchee Fossil Hunt offering a unique experience for guests to prospect for various types of fossils.
Open Sunday to Saturday but closed on Tuesdays, the IMAG is at 2000 Cranford Avenue, Fort Myers. For more information, call 239-243-0043 or visit www.theIMAG.org.
