Next month’s roster of activities at East County Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
Adult Programs

Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Chess enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. Bring your own chess set or use one of ours. Sponsored by Friends of the East County Regional Library.
• Book Discussion: “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner
3:30 p.m. Monday, March 7
Secretly dispensing poisons to liberate women from the men who have wronged them, a London apothecary triggers unintended consequences that shape three lives across multiple centuries.
• Download Drop-In
11 a.m. Tuesdays, March 8, 22
Receive personalized help downloading e-books, movies, music and more from Overdrive and Hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s largest online content providers. Bring your fully charged digital device for this hands-on help session. Note: Please bring any passwords you may need for downloading apps. Kindle users will also need an Amazon account and their password for accessing it.
• Knit and Stitch
5 p.m. Wednesdays, March 9, 23
A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.
• East County Craft Club: Paper Dogwood Branch
2 p.m. Saturday, March 12
Learn how to make a paper dogwood branch for a flowery springtime decoration. This program is intended for ages 18 and up. Registration is required.
Children’s Programs
• Preschool Play Date
10 a.m. Thursday, March 3
For children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Meet new friends while developing early literacy skills through free play with games, toys and music.
• Kids Read Down Fines
4 – 5 p.m. Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19
Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

• Bubble Dance Party

Families with children ages birth to 5 are invited to dance, sing and play with bubbles!
• Toddler Tales
10 a.m. Tuesdays, March 15, 29
For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime.
• Family Storytime
10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, March 16, 30
For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement.
• Preschool Storytime
10 a.m. Thursdays, March 17, 31
For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby.
• STEAM Storytime
1 p.m. Saturday, March 19
Children in grades K-5 are invited to join us for a STEAM Storytime that will feature a story and an activity based on the aspects of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. This is a great opportunity for parents and kids to learn and get creative together.
• Family Movie
1 p.m. Saturday, March 26
Start the weekend with a movie. Children in grades K-5 and their caregivers are invited to join us for a family friendly movie. You bring the snacks and we will provide the movie and the seats. Call the library for the movie title before the event. Movie shown will be rated G.
Teen Programs
• Library Teen Talk
2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 8, 15, 29
Grab your friends and join us for a weekly discussion about current events, everyday life, library resources and more. Teens in high school will be encouraged to post an answer to a weekly question while socializing and making new friends.

Play board games, video games, card games and more at the library! Middle and High school teens are invited to join us for fun, games and socializing with friends after school.
