To the editor:

I praise Ron DeSantis for his expert ability to distract and appeal to the lowest common denominator among Florida voters. He’s hot under the collar about your sexual preferences, irate about those insidious math books laced with covert messages, and doing his best to control and eliminate abortion because he’s the moral compass for the state of Florida.

His messaging works constantly to take Floridians’ focus away from the real problems that truly affect all of us: Dirty water, red tides, blue-green algae, eelgrass decimation, dying manatees, dying fish, poor development planning, too many people, skyrocketing home insurance rates, low-paying jobs, and the lack of affordable housing.

The positive aspect about Ron DeSantis is that he’ll be the evil protagonist in Carl Hiaasen’s next book.
