July Artist of the Month

Jo Walker is originally from Maine.

Art interested Walker since childhood. Her grandmother painted with oils. She has lived in Lehigh Acres since 1987. She worked as a legal assistant in Fort Myers. She began collage art in 1999 with a friend from work who was a multimedia artist. In 2013 she joined friends from work for Paint-Nite events with acrylic painting. After retiring in 2018, she joined the Art group at the Lehigh Acres Senior Center in 2019. Since joining the group, she has found new friends and fun with art. She is currently learning watercolor techniques with LaVerne Evans, who is the newest teacher to the Art group.

 The Art groups meet every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Lehigh Acres Senior Center. The center is at 219 Plaza Drive which is just behind the Lehigh Sheriff’s office. Membership to the center is $30 a year per person. Many of the craft classes have one or two projects included with an annual membership. With the Art group, you get to do a watercolor and an acrylic. Come on by the center, get a tour and check out all the activities offered.
