Lehigh resident found guilty of drug trafficking
A Lehigh Acres resident has been found guilty of drug trafficking.
Angel Yaril Correa, 42, was found guilty as charged with two counts of trafficking in fentanyl 28 grams or more and delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
The jury returned the guilty verdict on Thursday following a two-day trial in Collier County.
Correa was accused of selling just under two ounces of Fentanyl for about $3,000 and providing a sample of methamphetamine in a controlled purchase by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 9, 2018.
On Nov. 30, 2018, Correa negotiated a deal to sell two ounces of heroin for the same amount, also during a controlled purchase. Investigative funds were exchanged for one bag of suspect heroin.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement tested the substance and confirmed it was Fentanyl.
A warrant was issued and Correa was arrested.
Assistant State Attorney Kate Rumley, Chief of Narcotics, and Assistant State Attorney Brock Frazier prosecuted the case.
