American Legion: What is the American Legion and what does a Local Post do?
The American Legion is the world’s largest veterans service organization. It consists of veterans and their family members and descendants, who can belong to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion, all of which may belong to the American Legion Riders. The entire family focuses their efforts on the Four Pillars of the American Legion: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and our Children & Youth. The American Legion has 19 programs that provide opportunities for the youth of this nation, as well as many charitable organization.
Post 323 has just concluded its service year and would like to share some statistics with you.

â-ª 35 Veteran Funeral Honors provided
â-ª 50 pieces of medical equipment loaned out
â-ª 80 local children provided assistance
â-ª 82 rides to veterans provided
â-ª Donated 25 American flags
â-ª Donated over 1,000 Halloween Safety Coloring Books to Local Elementary Schools
â-ª Provided Christmas for 15 families
â-ª Riders logged over 25,000 miles on charity rides
â-ª Provided free Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter Diners to anyone who needed one.
The Post 323 Family donated over $75,000 to our National Charities (Special Olympics, Fisher House, All Children’s Hospital, Child Welfare Foundation, Vet Relief, National Emergency Fund), as well as Local School and Community programs (JROTC, Junior Leadership Program JROTC Academic Bowl, Shriners, Rotary Club, Kiwanis, Scouting, Golisano’s Children’s Hospital, East District LCSO, Lehigh Fire Fighters, Lehigh Schools & Teachers).
Post 323 Family Members donated over 80,000 hours to accomplish all of this. If all this data is compiled, Post 323 Family Contributions to; Our Programs, Our Charities, and Our Community is valued at just over $2,000,000.
