American Legion Scholarships
American Legion Post 323 is a good starting point for high school students and their parents who are looking for help with the cost of a college education.
• Boys State and Girls State
A program where young men and women go to Tallahassee for a week and learn how the government works. Each year 2 boys and 2 girls are selected to receive a 4 year scholarship to Florida State University. Also, every year, 2 boys and 2 girls are chosen to represent Florida at Boys Nation and Girls Nation. Last year 10 boys and 10 girls were selected to receive an additional $20,000 scholarship each.
• Oratorical
A program where young men and women give speeches about a selected part of the U.S. Constitution. Competition starts at the local Post and proceeds up to State and National. State winners get up to a $2,500 scholarship, while National Winners receive up to a $25,000 scholarship.
• American Legion Baseball
Players can receive up to a $20,000 Scholarship.
There are also scholarships available for JROTC Cadets, Junior Shooting Sports, Eagles Scouts, Nursing School, Medical School, and General Education.
• Legacy Scholarship Fund
For children of U.S. Military members who died while on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2021, or post 9/11 veterans who have a disability rating of over 50%. Last year 32 scholarships were awarded totaling $357,229
