Lee DOT advises motorists to avoid Richmond Avenue in Lehigh Acres due to emergency repair
Traffic Light in a blue sky with only the green light on.
Richmond Avenue is closed in both directions north of Leland Heights Boulevard in Lehigh Acres while crews make emergency repairs to a ruptured sewer line.
The line was inadvertently cut while a contractor was installing cables for traffic signals.
Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes to avoid the area.
The amount of time it will take to repair and open the road is unknown at this time.
Lehigh residents and business owners are asked to monitor local media outlets as well as www.leegov.com and Lee County Government on Facebook. The county will post when the road reopens.
The Lee County Department of Transportation is coordinating with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the School District of Lee County to provide information to the public throughout the emergency repair process.
