The Lehigh Acres Raiders Pop Warner Jr, Pee Wee team, which recently competed at regionals, has advanced to the National competition.
The competition will take place in Orlando next week on Dec. 8.
“We are in need of sponsors to help cover the cost,” said Wideline Aitlar, Raiders spokesperson and head coach for the Jr Pee Wee team. “As you know, Southwest Florida was devastated by Hurricane Ian and our families were greatly affected. Our team was without a practice field for weeks. Despite so many setbacks the girls managed to make history with this opportunity. They worked so hard for this and truly deserve it. We are asking for the community’s help and support to give these girls the opportunity that they’ve worked so hard to earn.”
The team is trying to raise $13,000, in total, to cover the cost of competition fees, transportation, lodging and food for 26 athletes for a total of three days. The cost is approximately $500 per athlete.
Donations may be made via check with checks made payable to L. A. F. A. All donations are tax deductible, LAFA Tax ID # 65-0387908.
Electronic payment options are also available upon request.
