Adult Programs
How to Declutter Your Space in Five Simple Steps
11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6
Learn your organizing style. Join us for tips on how to control clutter. Registration is required.
Helen Keller: Champion of the Disabled Performance
11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7
Helen Keller is performed by actor Sheryl Faye, who brings stories of historical women to life in a unique and memorable way. The program is written from Helen’s mind’s eye. The story is told on a taped voice-over as Helen reenacts her full life from her childhood through her discovery of language when she was 7 years old to the writing of her 12 books. She will show how she speaks and reads in Braille, and her story continues through her graduation from college.

Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Chess enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. Bring your own chess set or use one of ours.
Book Discussion: “This Time Tomorrow” by Emma Straub

When Alice wakes up on her 40th birthday, somehow back in 1996 as her 16-year-old self, she finds the biggest surprise is the 49-year-old version of her father with whom she is reunited. Armed with a new perspective on life, Alice wonders what she would change given the chance.

Receive personalized help downloading e-books, movies, music and more from Overdrive/Libby and Hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s largest online content providers. Bring your fully charged digital device for this hands-on help session. Note: Please bring any passwords you may need for downloading apps. Kindle users will also need an Amazon account and their password for accessing it.
Knit and Stitch
5 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 11, 25
A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.
East County Craft Club: Bullet Journals
2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14
Learn the basics of bullet journaling. A bullet journal can be a calendar, a chart, a place to record your goals, and more. Join us to design your own. This program is intended for ages 18 and up. Registration is required.
Simple Steps to Boost Your Immune System
11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20
Your immune system helps protect your body from harmful intruders. Join Humana to learn healthy habits to help strengthen your immune system. Registration is required.
Children’s Programs
Kids Read Down Fines
4 – 5 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26
1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21
Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.
New Year’s Carnival
1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7
Families with children are welcome to celebrate the new year with carnival-style games, prizes and music.

New Year’s Bubble Dance Party
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11
Families with children through age 5 are invited to dance, sing and play with bubbles. Help the library celebrate the new year with this fun party. Dress up is always encouraged.
Preschool Play Date
10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12
For families with children ages 3-5. Meet new friends while developing early literacy skills through free play with games, toys and music.
Read to Dogs
11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14
Join us at the library for reading to dogs. The dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team to help improve the literacy skills of children. Children can read down fines or just develop a love of reading through reading to dogs.
Toddler Tales
10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 17, 24, 31
For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime.
Family Storytime
10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 18, 25
For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement.
Preschool Storytime
10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 19, 26
For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby.

High school teens are invited to the library for a weekly discussion about current events, everyday life, library resources and more. Teens will be encouraged to post an answer to a weekly question while socializing and making new friends.
Middle School Welcome Back Chill Out
5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10
Chill out at the library with relaxing music, coloring sheets and board games. Bring your own snacks. This program is for middle school students ages 11-14.
High School Welcome Back Chill Out
2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11
Chill out at the library with relaxing music, coloring sheets and board games. Bring your own snacks. For high school students, ages 14-18.
Middle School Movie
5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17
Middle school teens are invited to sit back and enjoy a movie. Bring your friends and some snacks. The library will provide the movie and the space. Please call the East County Regional Library for movie title before the event. Movie ratings range from G to PG-13.
High School Movie

Teen Manga Discussion Group
11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28
Join us for this new and exciting program with plenty of opportunities to be heard and make an impact. Discuss current and favorite manga as well as new and upcoming titles. Participants can make purchase recommendations to the library and contribute ideas that will help grow the discussion group.
