The VFW Post 4174 Auxiliary has been working to win even more support from new memberships. Since 1914, the VFW has benefited from the support of the VFW Auxiliary. Its members work tirelessly on behalf of all the communities around the world.

Gaining a new member is a real boon for any post. One never knows what talents or ideas a new member may have that will encourage more support for the many projects the Auxiliary is involved with and works toward.

There is nearly half a million members who work together to promote the different programs, and each post has its own personal itinerary for things which may be of particular need in the individual community. While the charters all have 14 special committees, there is no set rule for a project that may be required or considered a necessity to be of assistance in a particular area.

The Auxiliary membership eligibility comes from a VFW member’s eligibility. All members should look to their own families to help in recruiting for said membership. For example, one VFW member has multiple family members eligible, but often don’t know about it. Step- and adopted parent, children, siblings, (and half siblings), grandparents and grandchildren are considered the same as is all are biologically related. The one thing to remember though, is a family member must be at least 16 years old to join the Auxiliary.

One particular way the VFW and Auxiliary both work together is through promoting membership. Auxiliaries are responsible for many good deeds which avail their communities. The projects need to be counted to effectively show the importance of the local VFW and VFW Auxiliary. Friendly competitions between posts is another way to encourage Posts and Auxiliaries to do something “fun and different’ with their partnerships.
