Adult Programs

Book Discussion: “The Nature of Fragile Things” by Susan Meissner
3:30 p.m. Monday, May 1
Moving to early 20th-century San Francisco to escape New York tenement life, an Irish mail-order bride uncovers transformative secrets involving a silent child and two other women before her precarious existence is upended by the great earthquake of 1906.
English Café

Receive personalized help downloading e-books, movies, music and more from Overdrive/Libby and Hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s largest online content providers. Bring your fully charged digital device for this hands-on help session. Note: Please bring any passwords you may need for downloading apps. Kindle users will also need an Amazon account and their password for accessing it.
Knit and Stitch
5 p.m. Wednesdays, May 10, 24
A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters gathered to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.
East County Craft Club: Flower Crowns
2 p.m. Saturday, May 13
Join us to create your own flower crown using fabric flowers. This program is intended for ages 18 and up. Registration is required.
Seasonal Allergies: Relief from Wheezing and Sneezing
11 a.m. Friday, May 19
If you’re one of the many people with seasonal allergies, wheezing, sneezing, congestion, a runny nose and a host of other bothersome symptoms may be routine. Learn more about seasonal allergies and how to find relief at this program presented by Humana.
Geocaching
1 p.m. Saturday, May 20
This event is open to all levels of geocaching experience, from first-timer to expert. Geocaching, a treasure hunting sport using GPS-enabled devices, is family friendly and fun.

Kids Read Down Fines
2 – 5 p.m. Thursdays, May 4, 11, 18, 25
1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20
Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.
Toddler Tales
10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2
For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime.
Family Storytime
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3
For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement.
Preschool Storytime
10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4
For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby.
STEAM Storytime
1 p.m. Saturday, May 6
Children ages 5-11 are invited to join us for a story and activity based on the aspects of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. This is a great opportunity for parents and kids to learn and get creative together.
Preschool Play Date
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10
For families with children ages 3-5. Meet new friends while developing early literacy skills through free play with games, toys and music.
Read to Dogs
11 a.m. Saturday, May 13
Join us at the library for reading to dogs. The dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team to help improve the literacy skills of children. Children can read down fines or just develop a love of reading through reading to dogs.
Bubble Dance Party
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17
Families with children through age 5 are invited to dance, sing and play with bubbles.
Geocaching

Library Teen Talk
2 p.m. Tuesdays, May 2, 9, 16
High school teens are invited to the library for a weekly discussion about current events, everyday life, library resources and more. Teens will be encouraged to post an answer to a weekly question while socializing and making new friends.
Kids Read Down Fines

High School Senior Send-off Celebration
2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10
High school students are invited to an end-of-the-school-year celebration with carnival games, button making, a photo booth and prizes.

High School End of Year Movie
2 p.m. Thursday, May 25
High school teens are invited to sit back and enjoy a movie. Bring your friends and some snacks. Please call the East County Regional Library for the movie title before the event. Movie ratings range from G to PG-13.
