BARTOW, Fla. — This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

As a reminder, travelers can visit www.FL511.com or dial “511” from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.

If you know before you go, you can plan accordingly and save time and money.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Construction project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk drainage, signage, and signalization improvements.

· Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023.

COLLIER COUNTY

I-75 near the Interceptor Canal: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound outside lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 while crews perform routine repairs to the bridge deck and beams. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.

I-75 at Wilson Cypress: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound outside lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 through 5 a.m. Thursday, May 25 while crews perform routine repairs to the bridge deck and beams. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.

I-75 from the Toll Booth to Collier Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will resurface the roadway and construct guardrail.

· Motorists should expect northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is late summer 2023.

I-75 from mile marker 76 to the mile marker 100/toll plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and animal crossings. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will resurface the roadway and construct new guardrail and animal crossings. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Bonita Bay Boulevard to Lake Shore Drive: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews replace utility poles near the roadway. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Davis Boulevard to Courthouse Shadows: Construction project: Improvements include adding mid-block crossings and pedestrian signals, milling and resurfacing, and making sidewalk repairs within the project limits. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours. Expected completion is late spring 2023.

US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 from Tomato Road to CR 92 Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a temporary bypass road. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.

SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Buckingham Road to Colonial Boulevard/Lee Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct turn lanes. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.

SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

DESOTO COUNTY

SR 72 from Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be making improvements to SR 72 including cross slope correction, milling and resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, miscellaneous drainage, and signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be single lane closures on SR 72 from the Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue.

· Motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures in both directions on SR 72 from the Sarasota County line to SW Rodgers Avenue.

Please use caution in the area and allow extra travel time.

GLADES COUNTY

US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 form Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.

· Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.

Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone.

SR 78 Sidewalks at Various Locations: Construction project: Crews will be installing five-foot sidewalks with a retaining wall along the south side of SR 78 from Access Road to Ben Street and from Chobee Street to Lake Drive and from Linda Road to Buckhead Ridge RV & Boat Storage. Other improvements include signing and pavement markings and drainage improvements. During construction daytime lane closures will occur on SR 78.

· Motorists should expect daily intermittent lane closures on SR 78 throughout the project limits until project completion.

· Road closure: Lake Drive off of SR 78 has been closed at the intersection of SR 78 and Lake Drive. Crews are placing a drainage pipe under the road and a detour is in place for approximately four weeks. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the area.

HARDEE COUNTY

HENDRY COUNTY

None at this time.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY

US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.

US 27 at S. Lakeview Road: Construction project: Crews will be widening US 27 at S. Lakeview Road for off-set left turns. Additional work includes constructing asphalt bulb-outs and installing a traffic signal at the intersection of US 27 and South Lakeview Road. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.

· Motorists should expect intermittent single daytime lane closures on northbound and/or southbound US 27 at Lakeview Road Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.

· Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.

· Traffic has been shifted on eastbound and westbound SR 70 and northbound and southbound US 27, while crews place concrete pavement on the roadway. Each direction is down to one lane of traffic near the intersection. Please follow signage and use caution in the area.

· The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US 27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.

LEE COUNTY

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, motorists can expect temporary, intermittent lane closures with flagging operations along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.

· A lane shift is in place for an estimated two months. East bound traffic will shift to the west bound lane, and the west bound traffic will shift to the newly paved, temporary lane.

· Beginning in June, crews are expected to begin driving sheet pile in the south side of the roadway.

· Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.

· Expect noise from construction equipment in the area.

· Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

· Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access.

· During the nighttime/overnight hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23, motorists should expect a mobile operation with lane closures from the toll plaza to Port Comfort Road. One lane will remain open in each direction during this overnight work.

· Motorists should expect periodic daytime delays for crews to remove trash from the roadway.

· Crews continue driving sheet pile around the causeway islands and near the toll booth area.

· Crews continue earthwork on the causeway islands.

· Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway.

· Pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway.

Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.

I-75 Intersection Lighting at various locations: Construction project: Crews are improving the lighting system at various intersections along I-75 at the following locations: I-75 at Terminal Access Road, Daniels Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Luckett Road, and Bayshore Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound offramp at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.

· Motorists should expect the southbound right turn lane on Forum Boulevard to Home Depot closed during nighttime/overnight hours from Monday, May 22 through Wednesday, May 24.

· Motorists should expect the northbound right turn lane on Forum Boulevard to Dynasty Drive closed during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours from Monday, May 29 through Thursday, June 1, 2023.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue Intersection Lighting at various locations: Construction project: Crews are improving the lighting system at various intersections along US 41 at the following locations: US 41 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 from south of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing the roadway and reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project.

· Crews will be installing underground utilities at San Carlos Boulevard, Sanibel Boulevard, and Constitution Boulevard.

· Pedestrians should expect sidewalk detours as crews construct improvements to sidewalk and signals.

The resurfacing will be done overnight/nighttime between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41/Tamiami Trail at Crystal Drive: Maintenance project: As part of the emergency restoration due to Hurricane Ian, crews will be repairing signals at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 from Tara Boulevard to French Creek Lane: Construction project: Crews are constructing a sidewalk on the west side of US 41 from Tara Boulevard to French Creek Lane. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.

· Expect Edison Avenue closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.

· Expect Crawford Street closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.

· Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.

· Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.

Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.

US 41 from Bonita Beach Road to Pondella Road: Construction project: Crews will be improving the lighting systems at the following intersections along US 41: Bonita Beach Road, Center of Bonita Springs Plaza/Boston Road, West Terry Street, South Bay Drive, Bernwood Parkway, Timberwilde Drive, Pelican Landing Parkway, Sanibel Boulevard, Constitution Boulevard, Bell Tower Road, Big Pine Way, Crystal Drive, Palm Drive, Beacon Manor Drive, South Airport Road, Boy Scout Drive, Sam’s Plaza, North Airport Road, North Key Drive, Hancock Bridge Parkway, and Pondella Road. Motorists should use caution as crews work alongside the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2023.

SR 865/Six Mile Cypress Parkway from SR 41/Tamiami Trail to Metro Parkway: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews perform maintenance to roadway shoulders and medians. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 739/Metro Parkway at Daniels Parkway: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews perform pipe/culvert maintenance. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 739/Metro Parkway at Daniels Parkway: Maintenance project: As part of the emergency restoration due to Hurricane Ian, crews will be repairing signals at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from SR 884/Colonial Boulevard to Wallace Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside eastbound lane closures while crews store debris near the roadway. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.

SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard at Old Olga Road: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews widen the roadway and construct a turn lane. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.

SR 31/Babcock Ranch Road from Shirley Lane to Greenway Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges.  Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

MANATEE COUNTY

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on resurfacing I-75, US 301 work, and pile driving for the construction of the new southbound on-ramp bridge over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

· On Sunday, May 21, at 8 p.m. to Monday, May 22, at 5:30 a.m., crews will close 60th Avenue East US 301. Motorists are urged to follow posted detour signs. Businesses will be accessible via 18th Street East. Motorists can access US 301 via the intersection at 18th Street East.

· Nightly, from Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25, crews will close 60th Street East during the overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Motorists are urged to follow posted detour signs. Businesses will be accessible via 18th Street East. Motorists can access US 301 via the intersection at 18th Street East.

· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard through the duration of bridge construction.

· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and US 301 through the duration of the construction.

· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway.

I-275 at US 41 (Exit 2): Construction project: Project improvements include new traffic signal at I-275 southbound off-ramp and replacing traffic signal at I-275 northbound off-ramp, pedestrian accommodations, and resurfacing within project limits. This week, crews will work on signal components.

· Motorists should expect single and double lane closures on US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect ramp closures at I-275 at US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-275 and US 41 through the duration of the construction.

· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway.

US 41 from 17th to Bayshore Road/ 26th Street, including the 23rd Street Roundabout, Palmetto: Construction: Crews have begun work in the area so please use caution in the construction zone and be alert for construction equipment in the area. Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street to prepare for the traffic shift.

· Motorists can expect temporary daytime lane closures from north of 17th Street to just past 23rd Street throughout the duration of the project.

· Be cautious in the construction zone and reduce speed. Lanes have shifted with areas of uneven payment.

US 301 from 60th Avenue East to Erie Road / Old Tampa Road: Construction: Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures for paving operations throughout the project limits. There will be limited daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to pour concrete curbs, driveways, and sidewalks. Motorists can expect construction vehicles in and out of the right-of-way limits. The scheduled completion is in the summer of 2023.

· Starting Sunday, May 21, through Thursday, May 25, there will be overnight paving on US 301, expect temporary delays and allow more travel time.

SR 70 at Lorraine Road to Desoto County Line: Maintenance: Starting Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., crews will be shoulder blading, replacing signs, repairing guardrail delineators, removing overgrown vegetation from under the guardrail, trimming trees, and replacing RPM’s. Motorists should expect lane closures (flagging operation) and shoulder closures.

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

SR 70 at SE 10th Avenue: Driveway permit project: Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.

US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to SR 70: Construction project: Crews will resurface the roadway on US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to US 98. Additional work includes shoulder treatments, roadway reconstruction at the railroad, sidewalk, traffic signals and signing and pavement markers.

· Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to US 98 and on SR 70 during construction.

· Motorists should expect a full detour closure of US 98 between NW 8th Street and NW 9th Street to reconstruct the railroad track and adjacent roadway. Detours are in place. Please follow signage and use caution in the area. Law enforcement will be on site to help direct traffic.

· Motorists should expect intermittent daytime shoulder closures to take place along the southbound/northbound shoulder between the intersection of US 98 and SR 70 and approximately on half mile north of NW 80th Avenue while crews work on driveways and grading for sod.

Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone.

POLK COUNTY

I-4 from CR 557/Old Glade Road (Exit 48) to Osceola County: Construction project: Crews will resurface I-4, upgrade or replace sections of guardrail and shoulder, install new signing and roadway pavement markings, and install vehicle detection systems and traffic monitoring sites at various locations. This week, crews will work on resurfacing.

· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours:

I-4 at SR 557 Interchange (Exit 48): Construction project: This project includes reconstructing the interchange from an existing cloverleaf interchange to a diamond interchange with roundabouts at the ramps, replacing the two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge, modifying SR 557 and I-4 within the interchange area and adding a new wildlife crossing under I-4. I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week, crews will work off the roadway with no planned traffic impacts. Expected project completion is summer 2025.

US 98 at Colbert Road/Lake Hancock Road: Construction project: This project includes adding a new signal at US 98 and Colbert Road/Lake Hancock Road, improving intersection lighting, installing pedestrian signal and high-visibility crosswalks and resurfacing the intersection and striping for bike lanes at right turn lanes. Crews will be working on the final punchlist items for the next few weeks, use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road. Expected project completion is late summer 2023.

US 98 from SR 60 to SR 570 (Polk Parkway) Maintenance: Expect periodic shoulder and workers close to the road as crews mow the right of way. Use caution and watch for crews and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

US 92 (East Memorial Boulevard) from Fish Hatchery Road to Reynolds Road: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing the roadway and side street entrances, widening the side street entrance at Fish Hatchery Road north of US 92, removing the median opening at Thompson Road an improving roadway drainage. This week crews will continue resurfacing and will begin widening work at North Fish Hatchery Road.

Fish Hatchery Road will be closed on the north side of East Memorial Boulevard with traffic detoured.

· All through traffic from US 92 and Fish Hatchery Road and all truck traffic will detour north on County Road 33A (North Combee Road) to Saddle Creek Road and turn right back to Fish Hatchery Road.

· Local traffic will detour north on North Combee Road and will be able to access Hardin Combee Road and Morgan Combee Road. Truck traffic and through traffic should only detour at Saddle Creek Road.

Use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road. Estimated project completion is late 2023.

US 92 West from Bass Circle and Lake Marianna Drive: Utility project: Watch for periodic lane closures and workers close to the road as crews bore to install conduit and handhole. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.

US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.

· The new ramp on SR 60 eastbound to US 27 is open. Frontage Road no longer has access to US 27. If traveling on SR 60 eastbound, motorists wishing to access US 27 must use the new ramp. Please follow the signage.

· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 60 eastbound and westbound while crews work in that area.

Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone.

US 17 from north of the CSX railroad bridge to South of Lunn Road in Fort Meade: Construction project: This project includes milling and resurfacing, widening for bike lanes at the right turn lanes, install lighting, sidewalk and guardrail. Expect daytime lane closures in either direction as crews complete final items. Use caution and be prepared to merge. Expected project completion is summer 2023.

US 17 from Spirit Lake Road to Bomber Road: Construction project: The improvements under this project include reconstructing the intersection of US 17 and Spirit Lake Road with concrete, milling and resurfacing, adding lighting, upgrading signal equipment, and relocating utilities.

· The US 17 median at Spirit Lake Road will be closed for reconstruction from 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, through 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023. Left turn and through traffic from Spirit Lake Road and Airport Boulevard will be detoured.

o Southbound Spirit Lake Road traffic headed to northbound US 17 will turn east on SR 540 (Winter Lake Road) to US 17 and turn left to head north toward Winter Haven.

o Southbound Spirit Lake Road traffic headed to the Bartow Airport will head east on SR 540 (Winter Lake Road) to US 17, turn right to Bomber Road, turn left to Ben Durance Road and turn right to enter the Airport through the back entrance.

o Northbound US 17 traffic headed to Spirit Lake Road will continue to SR 540 (Winter Lake Road) and turn left to Spirit Lake Road.

o Southbound US 17 traffic headed to the Bartow Airport will turn left onto Bomber Road, right on Ben Durrance Road and left into the back entrance to the airport.

o Airport Boulevard traffic headed to Spirit Lake Road will turn right onto US 17, left on SR 540 (Winter Lake Road back to Spirit Lake Road.

o Airport Boulevard traffic headed south on US 17 toward Bartow will either take the back entrance out of the Airport and turn left on Ben Durance Road to Bomber Road, turn left on Bomber Road to southbound US 17 or turn right out of the airport onto US 17 north, turn left onto SR 540 (Winter Lake Road) to Spirit Lake Road, turn left on Spirit Lake Road to US 17 and turn right to head south toward Bartow.

o US 17 northbound and southbound through traffic will not be affected as only the median allowing cross traffic or left turns to and from Airport Boulevard and Spirit Lake Road will be closed. US 17 remains open to through traffic and right turns.

· Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, May 21, through Friday morning, May 26, 2023.

· Use caution and be prepared to merge.

US 17 at Crystal Beach Road: Construction project: Construction on this project includes closing the full median opening and building a directional median opening for drivers turning left o and from Crystal Beach Road, adding a northbound acceleration lane, widening the southbound right turn lane and separating it from the travel lanes, removing the southbound left turn lane and resurfacing the southbound lanes, replacing lighting and improving drainage features west of US 17. Crews will need to close the median opening at Crystal Beach Road to reconstruct it. US 17 (3rd Street SW) from Avenue K SW to Avenue O SW: Utility project: Watch for periodic lane closures and workers close to the road as crews remove a pole and service. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

US 17 from SR 544 (Havendale Boulevard) to Brigham Road: Construction project: Safety improvements on this project include adding 6-foot sidewalks along both sides of US 17, installing new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) Signals with a raised pedestrian median at New Beginnings High School, installing or repairing curb and gutter along both sides of US 17, modifying several existing driveways, upgrading transit stops, installing lighting and upgrading signal equipment and improving drainage. SR 655 (Recker Highway) from Avenue G to Chambers Road: Maintenance project: Crews are performing ditch maintenance work through Thursday, June 1. SR 572 (Drane Field Road) at Don Emerson Drive: Construction project: This project includes constructing a single lane roundabout, drainage improvements, lighting and landscaping. Construction is managed by the City of Lakeland through a joint participation agreement with FDOT. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. Work is anticipated to be completed in mid-2024. This is a Florida Turnpike Enterprise project. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from US 92 to I-4: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is widening a four-mile segment of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to four lanes, between Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 and south of Pace Road and resurfacing the existing 4-lane portions between US 92 and I-4 in Polk County. This project includes constructing a new interchange at Polk Parkway and Braddock Road, widening Braddock Road from west of Polk Parkway to Berkley Road and constructing new electronic tolling points on Polk Parkway and Braddock Road ramps. Work also consists of resurfacing the ramps at CR 546, improving signage, pavement markings, signalization lighting and drainage throughout the project and improving local roads including the realignment of the City of Auburndale Water Treatment Plant access road and the neighborhood access road south of Braddock Road, as well as minor resurfacing on Berkley Road at the Braddock Road intersection. SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from east of US 17 to west of 1st Street: Construction project: Improvements under this Contract consist of resurfacing US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street, adding turn lanes, lengthening existing turn lanes, replacing the temporary traffic separators with a permanent concrete traffic separator on SR 540, improving crosswalk striping and adding pedestrian countdown signals, upgrading signal equipment and replacing streetlights with LED lights. This week, crews will be working on removing curb and sidewalk for turn lane widening.

SR 37 from South of Pipkin Road to Imperial Boulevard: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for eastbound and westbound lane closures at night/overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, May 21, through Friday, May 26, as crews install thermoplastic striping. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.

SR 17 (South Scenic Highway) from one mile north of US 27 to Hopson Road: Construction Project: Improvements on this project include repairs to the box culvert on South Scenic Highway at Streety Creek in Frost Proof as the result of damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Expect intermittent lane closures with flaggers directing traffic lasting through June 2023. Use caution and be prepared to stop. Estimated completion is June 2023.

SARASOTA

I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, retaining walls, noise walls, and drainage work.

· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 72 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and SR 72 through the duration of the construction.

· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

US 41 South between South Palm Avenue and Hudson Avenue: Permit project: Through the end of September 2023, crews will be working at the Marie Selby Gardens extending existing turn lanes, adding right turn lanes, making drainage improvements, adding signalization improvements, landscaping improvements, street lighting improvements and signing and pavement improvements. Motorists should expect temporary inside and outside lane closures as well as overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use particular caution in the area and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists and workers.

US 41 from Beneva Road to Caribbean Drive: Construction project: Construction on US 41 from Beneva Road to Caribbean Drive is making median modifications, widening paved shoulders, adding turn lanes to accommodate six-foot wide bicycle lanes and adding sidewalks along the 1.37-mile section of road. Modifications will be made to existing traffic signals and crosswalks to support the bicycle lanes and new sidewalks.

· Starting Sunday, May 21, through Sunday, May 27, crews will begin overnight paving as they finish the project.

US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road has begun. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor, including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, improved drainage, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, and curb and gutter improvements. This week no lane closures are expected.

US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Construction project: Crews will work within the right-of-way, medians, driveways and throughout the project limits. Please use caution and watch for construction vehicles, dump trucks, semi-trucks and heavy equipment entering or exiting the work zone.

Activities Include:

· Grading and installing new curb in the Marina Jacks parking lot in locations where it was removed for the project’s temporary traffic pattern.

· Grading parking lot area and installing geogrid base material.

· Adding debris skimmer and other finishing items on outfall drainage structure in the downtown pond. Decreased water levels within the pond will be part of this work.

· Mount permanent signs throughout the project.

· Installing permanent thermoplastic pavement markings during night work operations starting the night of Thursday, May 24, 2023. Moving lane closures will occur during nighttime hours.

Detours/Crossings:

· The sidewalk at the northwest corner of US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue is closed. Pedestrian paths are available via US 41 Multi-Use Recreational Trail (MURT) along Ritz Carlton Drive.

· Marina Jacks north parking lot entrance/exit on Gulfstream Avenue is closed to vehicular traffic. Motorists may access the parking lot via Bayfront Drive at Main Street/Marina Plaza. No through traffic allowed through this area.

Detours and lane closures will be in place during various phases of the project. During construction, the speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph on US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue.

We encourage motorists to allow extra time to travel, follow the roadway signage and messaging and avoid making unauthorized U-turns or changing lanes across solid lines between the lanes when traveling through the construction work zone.

Construction activities will take place weekdays and weekends, daytime and occasionally during nighttime hours. Expect noise from grinding asphalt, hammer drills, noise and vibration from construction equipment, backup alarms, vacuum trucks, pumps, and lighting.

Improvements being made as part of this project consist of replacing the existing signalized intersection on US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue with a roundabout, installation of Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) system, raised pedestrian refuge islands, replacement of underground drainage structures, utilities, fiber optic, new LED streetlights, reconfiguration of stormwater retention ponds, sidewalks, and pedestrian walkways.

US 41 at Wellen Park Village Roundabout: Permit project: A traffic shift is in place so please pay close attention through the construction zone. The lane shift will be in place for approximately six (6) months. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.

SR 777 River Road from US 41 to I-75: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue on the northbound roadway and near West Villages Parkway on the southbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard and curb and gutter is being installed at various areas on southbound roadway. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations. Drainage installation will also continue between Observation Boulevard and US 41. Traffic may be shifted slightly from Stoney Creek Boulevard to just south of I-75. Please pay attention to the signs.

SR 758 Midnight Pass from Stickney Point to Shadow Lawn Way: Construction project: Crews have begun a 1.6-mile roadway and safety improvement project on Midnight Pass Road (SR 758) from Stickney Point Road (SR 72)to Shadow Lawn Way in Sarasota County. Work will consist of milling and resurfacing, shoulder/turn lane widening, sidewalk replacement, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signal and lighting improvements.

Overnight milling and resurfacing is underway on Midnight Pass Road from Shadow Lawn Way to Stickney Point.

Work will start at approximately 8 p.m. depending on traffic levels and go until approximately 5 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flagging operations. Allow extra time.

Expect noise or light from construction equipment through the duration.

Temporary lane closures or flagging operations could be necessary throughout the duration of the project.

SR 72 Clark Road and Lorraine Road Roundabout: Permit construction project: Crews are finalizing the roundabout so continue to use caution in the area.

SR 72 Clark Road at Proctor Road and Dove Avenue Roundabout: Construction project: Traffic is now in the roundabout configuration and the speed through the roundabout has been reduced to 25 MPH.

Motorists can expect temporary lane closures or flagging operations while crews perform final work.

SR 72 Clark Road at Stickney Point from west of US 41 to Glencoe Avenue: Permit project: Crews are installing traffic signals, yet no lane closures are currently expected.
