Lee County Library System partners with Parks & Recreation for Book Walk at Veterans Park
Lee County Library System in partnership with Lee County Parks & Recreation has installed its first Book Walk at Veterans Park, 55 Homestead Road South, in Lehigh Acres.
Park guests are invited to take a stroll along the walking path by the tennis courts and playground in order to enjoy the first in a series of rotating bilingual Spanish/English picture books. This summer’s selection is “Abrazados” (“Tree Hug”) by Marcela Caratozzolo and Eva Mastrogiulio, displayed on aluminum stands, each with a different page from the story.
A community outreach to celebrate the Book Walk is planned for 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Veterans Park and will include crafts and a Book Walk scavenger hunt featuring special giveaways.
“The library is thrilled to be able to work with Lee County Parks & Recreation to offer the community a unique way to enjoy both books and nature simultaneously,” said Melissa Baker, manager of Library Programming and Community Outreach.
Veterans Park is open dawn to dusk. Visit the Lee County Parks and Recreation website at leegov.com/parks for additional information and to better plan your visit.
