VFW: Upcoming events
October seems to be the month when everything begins again here in southwest Florida, and our VFW Post 4174 is ready to begin with the rest of the area by having many events coming your way! Here at 25 S. Homestead Road, we are continuing with our ever popular Show me the Money Monday nights, our regular membership meetings for the monthly Tuesdays, Wednesday dinners, Thursday Bingo , Friday Dinners and entertainments and Saturdays, where many other things happen!
Our DAV is working to form an Auxiliary for its members. The Chapter has given its consent in order to charter a new DAV Auxiliary Unit by signing the Chapter Consent Form and Charter application. In order to form, there must be a minimum of 10 new part or full-paid adult life members for the charter to be issued. If a current member is transferring only from state or national at-large, he or she may be included as one of the ten members. For more information on this, call 239-369-5100 and ask to leave a message for Dave Wilson who is to be in charge of this new venture!
This month, we are having the Hillbilly Bingos two weeks in a row and on Oct. 28, there will be a Halloween Party where the guests are to bring a covered dish. We are looking forward to seeing what great costumes our members can appear in and have some interesting games lined up for the enjoyment of everyone. It all starts at 5 p.m., but come a few minutes earlier to get those pot luck items set up.
We have some of our awesome volunteers trying out some new recipes for the Saturday night dinners, but are still keeping the regular favorites on their usual nights. Sundays are for football, and we have enough tv screens that any game can be accessed for its fans. We do want to warn you though, we do not give out Sucrets to help soothe your throats from all the cheering you’re probably going to be doing!
Don’t forget our Sunday morning breakfasts which begin at 8:30 to 11: a.m. and also keep in mind we have some really great, reasonably priced lunches Monday thru Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Make a point to drop in for some of these events. You’ll be glad you did!
