BARTOW, Fla. – This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

As a reminder, travelers can visit www.FL511.com or dial “511” from their

phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.

If you know before you go, you can plan accordingly and save time and money.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

SR 776/El Jobean Road from Myakka River to Willow Bend Drive: Construction

project: Crews will mill and resurface, widen medians, replace sidewalk, improve drainage, and replace signing and pavement markings along SR 776/El Jobean Road.

Daytime lane closures throughout the duration of the project, except for the hours between 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Motorists should anticipate daytime lane closures for sign installation and nighttime/overnight lane closures for paving efforts.

Weather will determine further lane closures.

The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.

Main Street to Peace River Bridge: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, streetlight, and signalization improvements.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023.

US 17 from Piper Road to West of Golf Course Road

Crews will be constructing new turn lanes as well as milling and resurfacing existing roadway on US 17. Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

COLLIER COUNTY

I-75 from mile marker 76 to the mile marker 100/Toll Plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.

Through October 22, 2023, motorists should expect daytime ramp closures at the Recreational Area at MM 70 on I-75 northbound from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.

During the nighttime/overnight hours of 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., motorists should expect a lane closure on northbound and/or southbound SR 951 from Magnolia Pond Drive to Business Circle South for utility relocations. This lane closure could include the inside right turn lane for the southbound off ramp at exit 101.

Through Friday, November 18, during the nighttime/overnight hours of 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., motorists should expect a lane closure on westbound Beck Boulevard from Tollhouse Drive to Collier Boulevard (SR 951) for utility relocations.

Crews are also currently constructing the noise wall on the south side of I-75, just west of the interchange. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.

Crews are also currently working at northbound SR 951 at the I-75 southbound on-ramp. Motorists should expect truck traffic during daytime hours. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.

Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. The expected completion date is spring 2026.

US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

Shoulder closures and bicyclists flagging operation during daytime working operations.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Davis Boulevard to Courthouse Shadows: Construction project: Improvements include adding mid-block crossings and pedestrian signals, milling, and resurfacing, and making sidewalk repairs within the project limits.

Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours.

Expected completion is fall 2023.

US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 from Tomato Road to CR 92: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a temporary bypass road. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.

SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 670 9th Street North to Tamiami Trail: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a turn lane. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic. Motorists should expect to work during weekends from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 From East of Whistler’s Cove Boulevard to West of Collier Boulevard: Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures from Sunday, October 15 through Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. in the vicinity of Triangle Boulevard and Price Street. Crews will be working on the installation of traffic loops. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

DESOTO COUNTY

SR 72 from Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be making improvements to SR 72 including cross slope correction, milling and resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, miscellaneous drainage, and signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be single lane closures on SR 72 from the Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue.

• Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures in both directions on SR 72 from the Sarasota County line to SW Rodgers Avenue.

Please use caution in the area and allow extra travel time. Estimated completion is fall 2023.

SR 70 from Peace River to SE Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia, add new drainage facilities, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, install new traffic signals, reconstruct sidewalks, and add street lighting in various locations. During construction there will be lane closure on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be installed for pedestrians during construction while sidewalks are under construction and detours will be in place during construction, while crews work on side roads; please follow signage and use caution in these areas.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on westbound and eastbound SR 70 from Baker Street to the apex of eastbound and westbound SR 70.

Estimated completion is summer 2026.

SR 70 from Manatee County line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction, the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph and 45 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.

• Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures along SR 70 throughout the project.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 from Manatee County line to County Road 661 throughout the project.

Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is summer 2024.

GLADES COUNTY

US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be

repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.

• Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.

• Broadway Street is closed. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the areas.

Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2024.

SR 78 one mile south of the Fisheating Creek boat ramp: Maintenance project: Crews will be landscaping in the area. Motorists should expect a southbound lane closure on Monday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on SR 78 beginning one mile south of the Fisheating Creek Boat Ramp and extending one mile. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. Equipment will be in and out of the area. Please follow flagger directions and use caution.

HARDEE COUNTY

SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street, improve drainage and cross slope correction, construct sidewalks on both sides of SR 64 in various locations, and install guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. During construction motorists should expect the possibility of daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone.

• Motorists should expect a temporary traffic signal for a lane closure on eastbound SR 64 from Florida Avenue to Brentwood Drive.

Anticipated completion is early 2024.

SR 66 from the Highlands County line to US 17 in Hardee County: Maintenance project: Crews will be patching potholes on SR 66 from the Highlands County line to US 17 in Hardee County. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 66 in both directions. Please follow flagger directions and use caution in the area.

SR 64 at Delaney Road: Maintenance project: Crews will be replacing asphalt and working on guardrail and road shoulders on SR 64 at Delaney Road. Motorists should expect an eastbound lane closure on SR 64 at Delaney Road on Wednesday, October 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HENDRY COUNTY

US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone. Estimated completion is early 2024.

US 27 from Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street: Construction project: Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones. Estimated completion is early 2024.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY

US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.

US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.

• Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.

• SR 70 westbound traffic has been shifted to the south side of SR 70.

• The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US

27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.

Estimated completion is fall 2023.

US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line: Construction project: Crews will resurface US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line, reconstruct US 98 in various areas, widen shoulders, replace guardrail and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas; temporary signals will be installed to guide motorists. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.

• Motorists should expect Intermittent daytime lane closures on westbound US 98 west of the Kissimmee River bridge to east of CR 621 while crews perform paving operations.

Anticipated completion is summer 2024.

SR 70 near Old State Road 8: Railroad work: South Central Florida Express will be updating the signals at the crossing on SR 70 near Old State Road 8 beginning Monday, October 16 through Sunday, October 29, 2023. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers near the railroad crossing.

US 27 at Lakeshore Mall entrance: Construction: The right turn lane off US 27 to the Lakeshore Mall is closed; please use alternate entrances.

CR 17 from Memorial Drive to N Forest Ave: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be adding aerial lines and underground utilities along Main Street (SR 17) in Avon Park. There will be a lane closure in this area. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.

SR 66 from Payne Road to Parnell Road: Special use permit: The GFNY 2023 Cycling event will take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 66 from Payne Road to Parnell Road. Please follow flagger directions and allow extra travel time.

SR 17 from Circle Park Drive to Wall Street: Special use permit: The City of Sebring will hold their Halloween on the Circle event on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Motorists should expect SR 17 to be closed around the Circle from Circle Park Drive to Wall Street on Friday, October 27, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please follow detours and use caution in the areas.

LEE COUNTY

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.

• UPDATE: Crews are forming the concrete cap on the north side of the roadway.

• UPCOMING: Motorists can expect occasional overnight flagging operations on Tuesday, October 24, and Wednesday, October 25, as crews pave the roadway, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, and barrier wall.

• Motorists can expect a change in traffic configurations.

• Crews continue driving sheet piling on the north side of the causeway. The contractor is completing the concrete cap on the south side.

• Motorists can expect occasional lane closures and traffic shifts with flagging operations for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment. Crews are maintaining two-lane traffic on causeway.

• Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.

• Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.

• Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

• Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Emergency Restoration

of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.

• Motorists should expect flagging operations on the Causeway during the nighttime/overnight hours of Thursday, October 19 through Wednesday, October 25.

• Beginning no earlier than 10 a.m., motorists traveling westbound to Sanibel on McGregor Boulevard should expect segments of the outside through lane from Port Comfort Road to the toll plaza to be closed for crews to install guardrail.

• Beginning at 7 a.m., motorists traveling westbound to Sanibel on McGregor Boulevard should expect segments of the turn lane to Punta Rassa to be closed to traffic for crews to install guardrail. Motorists can continue to turn right to Punta Rassa.

• Motorists should be aware that through October and November, portions of the travel lanes near the bridges on the Causeway will be narrowed to 10 feet with a one-foot shoulder and barrier wall on each side. Oversized loads will only be permitted during the nighttime/overnight hours with this restriction.

• Between the hours of 6:30 and 11 a.m., motorists leaving Sanibel should expect eastbound McGregor Boulevard to be reduced to one lane from just east of the toll plaza to Port Comfort Road. This closed lane will be used as a dedicated lane for concrete delivery trucks arriving to the project. Concrete trucks will be escorted by FHP when using this lane. During this time, motorists traveling to Sanibel should expect FHP to intermittently stop traffic to allow concrete trucks to cross westbound travel lanes to reach the staging area.

• Motorists should expect isolated flagging operations on the Causeway. Crews anticipate opening all lanes between the hours of 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

• Motorists should expect uneven road surface on the causeway through the end of the year. The contractor continuously monitors road conditions and is prepared to make repairs as needed.

• Crews are relocating utilities along McGregor Boulevard. Motorists are asked to use caution as work activities may be close to the roadway.

• Crews continue driving sheet pile on the causeway islands.

• Motorists should expect numerous dump trucks entering and exiting Punta Rassa. They are delivering armor stone to be used throughout the project.

• Motorists should expect periodic daytime delays for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment, and for crews to remove trash from the roadway.

Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. Expect shoulder closures throughout the project. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.

I-75 Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along I-75 at the following locations: I-75 at Terminal Access Road, Daniels Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Luckett Road, and Bayshore Road.

Motorists should expect possible shoulder closures for the remainder of the project for clean-up efforts and final inspections.

The expected project completion is early 2024.

I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.

SR 867/McGregor Boulevard from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive:

Construction Project: Crews with place Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS) on SR 867 in various locations on Monday, October 23. Construction is

planned to begin Monday, November 6, 2023. Once construction starts, work will take place during the daytime and nighttime/overnight hours.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction

project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along US 41 at the following locations: US 41 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street.

Motorists should expect possible shoulder closures for the remainder of the project for clean-up efforts and final inspections.

Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 from south of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.

Crews will continue widening efforts on the outside lanes, both Southbound and Northbound.

The median opening on US 41 at Emerson Square Blvd. is closed for reconstruction.

Nighttime lane closures will continue through the remainder of 2023.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing.

Expect Victoria Avenue closed on the west side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.

Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.

Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift

to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.

US 41 over Caloosahatchee River Bridge Pedestrian Improvements: Design-Build Project: Crews will construct a sidewalk along the west side of US 41 from First Street in Fort Myers to North Key Drive in North Fort Myers. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety by modifying the existing bridges to accommodate a sidewalk on the west side of the southbound bridge. This will be accomplished by installing new outside traffic railings, connecting the two bridge decks in the center, and restriping the lanes. A new single median barrier will separate the northbound and southbound traffic.

Beginning late October, motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane closures for guardrail installation.

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 widening, drainage and utility work on US 301, and pile driving and beam installing for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street.

Motorists can expect temporary daytime lane closures between 17th Street and 26th Street throughout the duration of the project.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.

• Drilled shaft installation for new traffic signals will begin at the intersection of SR 70 (53rd Avenue East) and US 301 and will include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Light pole bases and conduit installation will continue at three intersections: US 301 and Tallevast Road, US 301 and Whitfield Avenue and US 301 and 63rd Avenue East and will include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Soft digs for utilities at several intersections will resume on Monday, October 23, 2023, and may include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• During intersection construction pedestrian access restrictions will be in place with alternate pedestrian routes clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted routes.

• The project’s expected completion is late 2024.

US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road Roundabout: Permit project: Crews have begun construction of a Manatee County roundabout at the intersection of US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road. A lane shift is in place. Plan for additional travel time or consider an alternate route. Please use caution in the area. Completion is expected by late spring 2024.

US 41 and SR 70: Permit project: Through Sunday, October 22, motorists can expect a northbound outside lane closure for construction of a driveway on US 41 south of SR 70. From Monday, October 23, to Friday, November 3, an eastbound outside lane closure will be needed for construction of a driveway on SR 70 west of US 41.

SR 684 Cortez Road at SR 55/1st Street: Permit project: FPL crews will be installing 18 power poles at two locations until mid-December. Motorists should anticipate overnight outside lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• Two (2) poles will be installed on SR 684 at 44 Avenue.

• Sixteen (16) poles will be installed on SR 55/1st Street from 41st Avenue to 30th Avenue East.

SR 64 Anna Maria Draw Bridge over Sarasota Pass: Permit project: Manatee County Public Works will complete their waterline repair on the bridge over the next two week.

• The week of October 30, 2023, crews will finish the hanger installation from the waterside.

• On November 1, 2023: Work will require periodic lane closures and periods of one-way traffic. This one-day closure is expected to be active between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. This will allow crews to complete the last phase of this repair.

• Motorists may experience slower traffic and should consider alternate routes such as Cortez Bridge.

SR 64 Anna Maria Draw Bridge over Sarasota Pass: Bridge maintenance: Crews are working on the bridge to perform normal updates and maintenance.

• Lane closures will be limited to overnight hours.

• Allow additional travel time and consider an alternate route such as the Cortez Bridge.

• Please be aware of workers crossing the bridge during daytime operations.

SR 64 between 17th Street East to 27th Street East: Permit project: Through October FPL will be installing 35 new power poles. Motorists should anticipate intermittent eastbound outside lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use caution in the area and be alert for lane shifts. Motorists may wish to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time.

SR 64 from 43rd Street West to 15th Street East and from 10th Street West to 10th Street East: Construction project: Construction is underway for the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and temporary lane closures when work requires. Expect noise and light from construction equipment. Motorists should add additional travel time for slow-moving traffic or consider an alternate route. Completion is slated for spring 2024.

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

SR 70 at SE 10th Avenue: Driveway permit project: Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.

SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard) from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace: Construction project: Crews will make improvements to SE 28th Street from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace. Improvements include construction of sidewalks on the north side of SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard). Crews will also

reconstruct the roadway and driveways in various locations, improve drainage, and install signs and pavement markings.

• Motorists should expect intermittent daytime shoulder closures on SE 28th Street and SE 32nd Street and intermittent nighttime lane closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on 28th Steet and SE 32nd Street during construction.

I-4 from CR 557/Old Glade Road (Exit 48) to Osceola County: Construction project: Crews will resurface I-4, upgrade or replace sections of guardrail and shoulder, install new signing and roadway pavement markings, and install vehicle detection systems and traffic monitoring sites at various locations. This week, crews will work on resurfacing.

I-4 at SR/CR 557 Interchange (Exit 48): Construction project: This project includes reconstructing the interchange from an existing cloverleaf interchange to a diamond interchange with roundabouts at the ramps, replacing the two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge, modifying SR 557 and I-4 within the interchange area and adding a new wildlife crossing under I-4. This week the contractor will continue work on the new I-4 travel lanes and exit ramps. There are no planned lane closures this week. I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week the contractor will take delivery of materials and prepare to begin pile driving. The eastbound exit ramp at Kathleen Road (Exit 31) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews take delivery of materials.

• RAMP CLOSED: Eastbound exit ramp from I-4 to SR 539/Kathleen Road (Exit 31) will be closed during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, October 23 for delivery of bridge piles and pile driving.

• DETOUR: Eastbound motorists wanting to exit at Kathleen Road should follow the posted detour and exit at US 92 (Exit 28), head east to Wabash

Avenue (US 92) then south to George Jenkins Boulevard (SR 600) then east to Kathleen Road (SR 539).

• Use caution and follow the posted detour.

US 98 (East Broadway Ave) from Church Street to the Fort Meade Recreation Area: Construction project: This project includes bridge construction and demolition, milling and resurfacing, pedestrian and drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and lighting improvements. Crews will be working on the delivery of machinery and materials, temporary electric relocation and clearing and grubbing and driving piles. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

US 98 from Mount Zion Road to east of Old Stokes Road and from Keller Road to west of Ridge Road: Construction project: Project improvements include removing the old asphalt and resurfacing, drainage and shoulder improvements, tree removal and guardrail repairs. This week the contractor will continue shoulder widening and tree trimming along US 98 during the day. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Use caution and be prepared to stop.

US 98 from East Van Fleet Drive to the Hardee County Line: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for southbound and northbound lane closure from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Crews will be applying thermoplastic stripping along the road during the night. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop and watch for workers close to the road.

US 92 (East Memorial Boulevard) from Fish Hatchery Road to Reynolds Road: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing the roadway and side street entrances, widening the side street entrance at Fish Hatchery Road north of US 92, removing the median opening at Thompson Road an improving roadway drainage. This week the contractor will continue punch list work general project cleanup. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road.

US 92 at Havendale Boulevard: Utility project: Watch for periodic lane and sidewalk closures and workers close to the road as crews work on the service wire. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall

along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.

• Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 60 throughout the project limits while crews prepare for a traffic shift.

US 17 from SR 544 (Havendale Boulevard) to Brigham Road: Construction project: Safety improvements on this project include adding 6-foot sidewalks along both sides of US 17, installing new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) Signals with a raised pedestrian median at New Beginnings High School, installing or repairing curb and gutter along both sides of US 17, modifying several existing driveways, upgrading transit stops, installing lighting and upgrading signal equipment and improving drainage. US 17/92 from Hinson Avenue to McKeown Avenue: Construction project: Project improvements include constructing a 14-foot-wide raised grass median with curb and gutter to replace the existing two-way left turn throughout the project limits, widening the northwest corner at the intersection of Hinson Avenue and US 17/92 to accommodate right turns for larger tucks, and constructing a directional median with left turn lanes, raised concrete median islands and traffic separators

in both directions at Melbourne Avenue. This week crews will continue grading and laying sod in the median areas. Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures and workers close to the road.

US 17/92 (South Lake Shore Way) from US 17 to South Buena Vista Drive: Utility Project: Watch for periodic lane closures and workers close to the road as crews install poles and perform miscellaneous overhead work. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

SR 655 (Recker Highway) from east of Coleman Road to CR 542 (K-Ville Avenue): Construction project: Recker Highway improvements include milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, pedestrian enhancements, signalization and lighting. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from East of US 17 to west of 1st Street: Construction project: Improvements under this Contract consist of resurfacing US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street, adding turn lanes, lengthening existing turn lanes, replacing the temporary traffic separators with a permanent concrete traffic separator on SR 540, improving crosswalk striping and adding pedestrian countdown signals, upgrading signal equipment and replacing streetlights with LED lights. This week, crews will construct curb and gutter, gravity wall, traffic separator, sidewalk, and earthwork for widening along US17, SR 540, and 1st Street.

• Northbound 1st Street South at the intersection with SR 540 has been reduced to one lane and will remain that way as this is a permanent alignment. A new permanent traffic separator is being built in the location of the old northbound inside lane.

SR 60 East from Godwin Road to Peace Creek: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for eastbound and westbound shoulder closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Tuesday, October 31, as the contractor regrades and sods the outside shoulders. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 60 East from Alturas Road to Van Fleet Drive: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for eastbound and westbound shoulder closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Tuesday, October 31, as the contractor regrades and sods the outside shoulders. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 60 at Coronet Road: Utility project: Watch for periodic lane closures, sidewalk closures and bike lane closures and workers close to the road as crews replace fuses. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

SR 37 from Moses Street to Ft. Green Mine: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for lane closures with flaggers directing traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Wednesday, November 22, as the contractor reworks the shoulder of the road. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 37 from SR 60 to West Carter Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Tuesday, November 7, as the contractor reworks the shoulder of the road. Use caution, be prepared to merge and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) from East Memorial Boulevard to East Crawford Street: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for southbound and northbound lane closure from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Tuesday, October 17. Crews will repair concrete curbs, and inlet tops. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 33 from North of Iowa Avenue to Parkview Place: Construction project: Project improvements include constructing a 14-foot-wide raised grass median with curb and gutter to replace the existing two-way left turn throughout the project limits, milling & resurfacing both left turn lanes to Garden Street, Iowa Avenue, Buena Vista Street, and El Paseo and establishing a southbound directional turn lane at El Paseo, improve right turn movement from Iowa Avenue to SR 33 by constructing a concrete island, construct a concrete median island at El Paseo Drive, signaling and pavement markings. This week crews are scheduled to begin milling the median area in preparation for constructing the concrete separators. Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures and workers close to the road.

SARASOTA COUNTY

I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, retaining walls, and paving the I-75 shoulders.

• Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 72 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and SR 72 through the duration of the construction.

• Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is late 2024.

US 41 from North of Port Commons from north of Port Commons to State College of Florida: Construction project: This project includes milling and resurfacing, guardrail, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signalization improvements. Crews will be working in the median between West

River Road and Ortiz Boulevard. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

US 41 South between South Palm Avenue and Hudson Avenue: Permit project: Crews are finalizing all work at the Marie Selby Gardens. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures as needed. Please use particular caution in the area and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists and workers.

US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road has begun. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor, including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, improved drainage, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, and curb and gutter improvements.

• Crews will remain focused on sidewalk, drainage, and lighting.

• Most work should be in the FDOT right of way or turn lane. No mainline roadway closures are anticipated currently.

US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Landscaping of the area will take approximately four months through December. To minimize is inconvenience, lane closures will be during overnight hours and noise from landscaping vehicles and lighting are to be expected.

US 41 at Wellen Park Villages D&E Roundabouts: Permit project: Construction of two roundabouts are underway on US 41. Lane closures are required. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.

SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue and just north of Rambler’s Rest RV Park on the northbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard. Drainage structure and pipe, and curb and gutter installations will also continue throughout the project. Signal and lighting work is also on-going throughout the project. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations.

SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Crews have begun milling and resurfacing along the 2.8 stretch of roadway in preparation for construction. The resurfacing project will also improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization.

• Paving on the project has started so motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.

• During resurfacing of the highway, on- and off-ramps will require limited overnight detours.

• Noise from construction equipment should be anticipated for the duration.
