VFW: For the People!
Back in November of 1863, then President, Abraham Lincoln, made a very profound speech at the battlefield near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He was dedicating this ground to those who had fought and perished there. He was also reminding the country that those same dedicated persons gave their all for the country which is of the people, by the people and for the people. He also declared that this government shall not perish from this earth. It is up to us to support those words.
Here, at the VFW Post 4174 in Lehigh Acres, our members are doing their best to continue with the promise of America being For the People by their many acts of charity, commitment, and concern, not just for all our veterans and families, but also for the community where they reside.
In keeping with the promise of a government for the people, the VFW is proud to continue bringing a collection of benefits and discounts to veteran and active duty VFW members . Some of these benefits include Auto, Cancer, Dental, Homeowners, Health and Life insurances. Even veterinary pet insurance is available! There are also cell phone plans, auto rentals, hotel and motel stays, retail discounts, travel planning and financial planning.
While the VFW strives to continue working in Washington for the benefits all veterans deserve, it sometimes takes time for things to be approved. Many times, those in Congress need to be reminded that our country was founded on the principles that things must be for the good of all the people and not just a select few. The oath all veterans undertook when they joined the military, which was to protect and defend the country and its Constitution, is still a big part of what they stand for and truly believe.
There is always some form of activity going on at any VFW Post and the public is always welcome to stop in and meet the members. To take advantage and learn more of the benefits for the people, stop in at our Little Post with the Big Heart, located at 25 S. Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres. You’ll be glad you did!
