BARTOW, Fla. – This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

As a reminder, travelers can visit www.FL511.com or dial “511” from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.

If you know before you go, you can plan accordingly and save time and money.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.

Main Street to Peace River Bridge: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.

US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, streetlight, and signalization improvements.

Motorists should expect intermittent south and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during night/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 17 from Piper Road to West of Golf Course Road: Construction project:

Crews will be constructing new turn lanes as well as milling and resurfacing existing roadway on US 17. Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 and SR 776 at Various Intersections: Hurricane Ian signal repair project: Crews will be installing illuminated signs along US 41 in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte at several intersections. Motorists should expect minor traffic delays and slow-moving traffic. Please use caution as crews install signs.

SR 90 from 11 Mile Loop Road to Collier/Miami County Line: Design Project: Motorists should anticipate daytime lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday, January 12, 2024. Crews will be performing geotechnical borings in the roadway. Weekend operations may take place.

Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

COLLIER COUNTY

I-75 from Mile Marker 76 to Mile Marker 100/Toll Plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.

Motorists should expect daytime ramp closures at the Recreational Area at MM 70 on I-75 northbound from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for guardrail repairs.

Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.

Beginning Monday, January 22, during the daytime hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., motorists should expect lane closures on northbound SR 951 from just south of Beck Boulevard to just south of the I-75 southbound on-ramp for material deliveries. The turn lane on northbound SR 951 to Beck Boulevard will remain open and the northbound SR 951 to I-75 southbound on-ramp will remain open.

Crews are currently constructing the noise wall on the south side of I-75, just west of the interchange. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.

Crews are also currently working at northbound SR 951 at the I-75 southbound on-ramp. Motorists should expect truck traffic during daytime hours. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.

Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. The expected completion date is spring 2026.

US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

Shoulder closures and bicyclists flagging operation during daytime working operations.

US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.

SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 670 9th Street North to Tamiami Trail: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a turn lane. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic. Motorists should expect to work during weekends from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 From East of Whistler’s Cove Boulevard to West of Collier Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be working on widening areas, curb construction, and installation of permanent signs throughout project limits.

Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

DESOTO COUNTY

SR 70 from Peace River to SE Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia, add new drainage facilities, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, install new traffic signals, reconstruct sidewalks, and add street lighting in various locations. During construction there will be lane closure on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be installed for pedestrians during construction while sidewalks are under construction and detours will be in place during construction, while crews work on side roads; please follow signage and use caution in these areas.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on westbound and eastbound SR 70 from Baker Street to the apex of eastbound and westbound SR 70 beginning Monday, September 25, 2023.

• Robert Ave at eastbound SR 70 is closed. A detour is in place at Luther Avenue. Please follow detour signs and allow extra travel time.

• Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures on SR 70 WB of the Peace River and east of US 17, while crews work on utilities.

Estimated completion is summer 2026.

SR 70 from Manatee County line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.

• Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures along SR 70 throughout the project.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 from Manatee County line to County Road 661 throughout the project.

Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is summer 2024.

US 17 (SR 35 NB) from north of CR 761 to south of Senate Street: Permit project: From January 16 to February 19, there will be a shoulder closure while a contractor upgrades an existing driveway. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment on the shoulder of the roadway.

GLADES COUNTY

US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.

• Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.

Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2024.

SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line: Maintenance project: Crews will be reworking and sodding shoulder on SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line. No lane closures are expected but crews will be working near the travel lane. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone. The expected project completion is February 2024.

SR 78 from Potato Farm Grade South for 2 miles: Maintenance project: Crews will be closing the south bound lane on SR 78 for two miles starting at Potato Farm Grade to perform maintenance behind the guardrail. Expect MOT and flaggers to be on scene directing traffic. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.

HARDEE COUNTY

SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street, improve drainage and cross slope correction, construct sidewalks on both sides of SR 64 in various locations, and install guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. During construction motorists should expect the possibility of daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone.

• Westbound SR 64 Lane Closure/Flagging Operations, from Ralph Johns Road to Golfview Drive January 22, 2023 – January 26, 2024.

Anticipated completion is early 2024.

US 17 (SR 35 NB) from Bay Street to Palmetto Street: Permit project: lane and sidewalk closures with law enforcement at night while contractor removes and installs poles on the east side of US 17. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment. 1/15/24 to 1/22/24 during night hours.

HENDRY COUNTY

US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.

• Motorists should expect San Luiz Avenue to be closed through approximately the end of January.

US 27 from Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street: Construction project: Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on US 27 southbound outside lanes and northbound inside lanes throughout the project limits.

Estimated completion is early 2024.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY

US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.

US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.

• Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.

• The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US 27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.

Estimated completion is winter 2024.

US 27 at Lakeshore Mall entrance: The right turn lane off US 27 to the Lakeshore Mall is closed; please use alternate entrances.

US 27 between Whisper Circle and Flare Road: Utility permit project: This is a pole replacement project. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway. There are shoulder closures and right turn lane closures. There may be intermittent travel lane closures with this utility work.

US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line: Construction project: Crews will resurface US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line, reconstruct US 98 in various areas, widen shoulders, replace guardrail, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas; temporary signals will be installed to guide motorists. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.

• Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures between Kissimmee River Bridge and approx. 0.7 miles south of CR 621 to install temporary barrier wall, attenuator pads, and temporary striping.

• Motorists should expect a lane closure from approximately 500 feet north of the Istokpoga Canal to approximately 600 feet south of the Istokpoga Canal. There will be a temporary traffic signal in place to direct traffic in this area.

• Northbound and Southbound traffic will shift onto a newly constructed detour. Both lanes will shift to the east for reconstruction of the existing roadway.

Anticipated completion is summer 2024.

CR 17 from Memorial Drive to N Forest Ave: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be adding aerial lines and underground utilities along Main Street (SR 17) in Avon Park. There will be a lane closure in this area. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.

East Main Street from North Lake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street: Special use permit: The City of Avon Park is hosting the Annual LC5 Foundation 5K run. Motorists should expect road closures on East Main Street from Northlake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please follow detour and use caution in the area.

LEE COUNTY

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.

• CONTINUED: The contractor will be working on underground utility installation on the north side of the causeway.

• Crews work on desilting drainage structures on the shoulders west of Matlacha Pass Bridge.

• Please be alerted to construction equipment in the construction zone. To maintain safety, motorists should find alternate parking areas.

• Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

• Crews are maintaining two-lane traffic on causeway.

• Motorists can expect occasional delays due to flagging operations for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment.

• Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.

• Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.

• Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: Crews have moved traffic to the permanent lanes on the Sanibel Causeway. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.

Crews continue earthwork and debris removal along the causeway islands. Please expect construction equipment periodically entering/leaving the travel lanes when necessary. The contractor is limiting this interruption during peak hours.

The westbound merge location is now west of the toll plaza. Motorists are urged to use caution and obey the 20 MPH speed limit. Construction vehicles and equipment continue to enter/exit the staging area near this location.

Upcoming work: Beginning in early February, motorists traveling eastbound from Sanibel should expect one lane of travel to continue from the toll plaza to Port Comfort Road to allow the contractor to perform shoulder work. Significant traffic delays are not expected during this operation. The lane closure is expected to last for 90 days while crews work to install underground devices to reinforce the shoreline. During this work, beach access from McGregor Boulevard will be unavailable.

Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the

causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH.

I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.

SR 867/McGregor Boulevard from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive:

Construction Project: FDOT crews will be providing roadway median improvements from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive to enhance safety for drivers when traveling on SR 867.

Motorists should expect lane closures through Thursday, January 25, during the nighttime/overnight hours as crews work in the roadway.

Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures throughout the duration of the project.

Please proceed with caution as crews work on the roadway.

US 41 from South of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.

Nighttime/overnight lane closures between Sunday and Thursday nights will continue until the end January.

The median opening on US 41 at Emerson Square Boulevard is closed for construction.

The median opening on US 41 at San Carlos Boulevard is closed for construction.

The median opening on US 41 at Harborage Drive/Babcock Road will be closing this week for reconstruction.

Daytime activities will include signalization work at San Carlos and miscellaneous shoulder closures for turn lane widening and driveway reconstruction throughout the project limits.

SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) and Fowler Street: Construction project: Crews are constructing turn lanes, drainage upgrades, signalization upgrades and milling and resurfacing at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Fowler Street.

Motorists should anticipate right turn lane closures onto westbound SR

884 (Colonial Boulevard) when traveling southbound on Fowler Street.

Motorists should anticipate right turn lane closures onto eastbound SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) when traveling northbound on Fowler Street.

Three lanes on SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) headed eastbound will be reduced to two lanes when approaching Fowler Street.

The expected project completion is mid-2024.

US 41 over Caloosahatchee River Bridge Pedestrian Improvements: Design-Build Project: Crews will construct a sidewalk along the west side of US 41 from First Street in Fort Myers to North Key Drive in North Fort Myers. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety by modifying the existing bridges to accommodate a sidewalk on the west side of the southbound bridge. This will be accomplished by installing new outside traffic railings, connecting the two bridge decks in the center, and restriping the lanes. A new single median barrier will separate the northbound and southbound traffic.

Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane closures for guardrail installation.

US 41 from Bonita Beach Road to Pondella Road: Construction project: Crews will be improving the lighting systems at the following intersections along US 41: Bonita Beach Road, Center of Bonita Springs Plaza/Boston Road, West Terry Street, South Bay Drive, Bernwood Parkway, Timberwilde Drive, Pelican Landing Parkway, Sanibel Boulevard, Constitution Boulevard, Bell Tower Road,

Big Pine Way, Crystal Drive, Palm Drive, Beacon Manor Drive, South Airport Road, Boy Scout Drive, Sam’s Plaza, North Airport Road, North Key Drive, Hancock Bridge Parkway, and Pondella Road.

Motorists should expect possible intermittent lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.

Motorists should use caution as crews work alongside the roadway. Estimated project completion is late 2023.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at CR 869/Summerlin Road: There are no updates for hurricane work.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at Pine Ridge Road: Hurricane Ian maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures while crews perform repairs to the traffic controller cabinet. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic as needed. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard)/Veronica South Shoemaker Boulevard to Alta Vista Avenue: Construction project: Motorists should expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the week while crews perform soil boring operations to gather design criteria for upcoming improvements to the corridor. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

Buckingham Road to Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct driveways. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.

US 41/SR 78: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Kingston Drive to Marion Street: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent land closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews perform maintenance to storm drains. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 78/ Pine Island Road from Donald Road to Santa Barbara Drive: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews perform shoulder repair maintenance. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard: Maintenance Project: Concrete crews will be replacing sidewalk and curb on the west side of the south end of Matanzas Pass Bridge at Fort Myers Beach from Monday, January 22 through Tuesday, January 23 during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The southbound bus lane/right turn lane will be closed. However, one northbound lane and one southbound lane will be available at all times. Delays will be minimal.

SR 867/McGregor Boulevard: Maintenance Project: Concrete crews will be replacing sidewalk in the southwest and northwest corners of McGregor Boulevard and La Faunce from Tuesday, January 23 through Friday, January 26 during daytime hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lane closure will be required. Flaggers will be alternating traffic in one lane through the work zone during these hours. Motorists should expect delays when traveling in this area.

SR 41 from Sky Villa Boulevard to Playa Del Sol Boulevard: Maintenance Project: Crews will be installing pipe across Leesure Lane during the overnight/nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, February 2, 2024. SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard) from Freemont Street to I-75: Motorists should expect lane closures and slow-moving traffic on Monday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 23 during the daytime hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Crews will be sweeping the roadway an removing debris both eastbound and westbound directions throughout the day.

MANATEE COUNTY

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 widening, drainage and utility work on US 301, and pile driving and beam installing for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

• Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect single and double lane closures on US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

I-275 at South Side Skyway Bridge Fishing Pier and Ramps (Manatee County): Construction project: Crews are repaving the area, installing wrong way detection, guard rail and restriping/ signing. Motorists can expect temporary lane closures and overnight ramp closures in January 2024.

• To install guardrail, an overnight right lane and ramp closure are necessary:

o Thursday, January 18, southbound right lane and off ramp A from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

o Friday, January 19, overnight northbound off ramp C from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

US 41 BUS from 17th to Bayshore Road/ 26th Street, including the 23rd Street Roundabout, Palmetto: Construction: Work is underway so please use caution in the construction zone and be alert for construction equipment in the area. Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street and the intersection of US 41 BUS and Bayshore Road/26th Street. Left turns at 26th Street will be closed off during construction of median improvements. Motorists should follow detours or find alternate routes.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.

• Motorist should expect shoulder closures including pedestrian access restrictions along the US 301 corridor between Tallevast Road and 51st Avenue East. Alternate pedestrian routes will be clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted detour signage.

• The project’s expected completion is late 2024.

US 301 and Coquina Drive: Permit project: Starting Monday, January 22, through Tuesday, January 23, crews will be performing overnight roadway test bores from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use caution and watch for workers, flagging crews, and traffic changes.

US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road Roundabout: Permit project: Crews have begun construction of a Manatee County roundabout at the intersection of US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road. A lane shift is in place. Plan for additional travel time or consider an alternate route. Please use caution in the area. Completion is expected by late spring 2024.

SR 64 from 43rd Street West to 15th Street East and from 10th Street West to 10th Street East: Construction project: Construction is underway for the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton. Completion is slated for spring 2024.

• Motorists should consider additional travel time or an alternate route.

• Expect noise and light from construction equipment.

SR 70 from 53rd Avenue Between US 301 and 301 Boulevard: Maintenance Crews will be performing pipe inspections at each inlet located on SR 70 (53rd Ave) between US 301 and 301 Boulevard. The contractor will be closing the outside lanes and transitioning traffic onto the inside lanes. Work is scheduled for Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

SR 70 at SE 10th Avenue: Driveway permit project: Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.

SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard) from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace: Construction project: Crews will make improvements to SE 28th Street from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace. Improvements include construction of sidewalks on the north side of SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard). Crews will also reconstruct the roadway and driveways in various locations, improve drainage, and install signs and pavement markings.

• Motorists should expect intermittent daytime shoulder closures on SE 28th Street and SE 32nd Street and intermittent nighttime lane closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on 28th Street and SE 32nd Street during construction.

POLK COUNTY

I-4 from Hillsborough County to Galloway Road: Construction project: Crews will mill and resurface I-4, concrete pavement rehabilitation, guardrail upgrades, intelligent transportation systems, and signing and pavement markings. This week, crews will work on removing concrete sections.

I-4 at SR/CR 557 Interchange (Exit 48): Construction project: This project includes reconstructing the interchange from an existing cloverleaf interchange to a diamond interchange with roundabouts at the ramps, replacing the two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge, modifying SR 557 and I-4 within the interchange area and adding a new wildlife crossing under I-4. I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week the contractor will move the crane to the median to continue work and remove equipment near the Kathleen Road on-ramp.

• Tuesday night, January 23, I-4 Eastbound will be CLOSED at night/overnight for several hours after 9 p.m. while crews move the crane across the eastbound lanes and into the median. DETOUR: Motorists will detour at Exit 28 (US 92) and head east to US 98 (North Florida Avenue) and head north back to I-4.

• Monday, January 22, Eastbound I-4 will be open, but the I-4 eastbound exit ramp to Kathleen Road (Exit 31) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews remove equipment near the ramp. DETOUR: Motorists wanting to exit at Kathleen Road should follow the posted detour and exit at US 92 (Exit 28), head east to Wabash Avenue (US 92) then south to George Jenkins Boulevard, then east to Kathleen Road (SR 539).

US 98 (East Broadway Avenue) from Church Street to the Fort Meade Recreation Area: Construction project: This project includes bridge construction and demolition, milling and resurfacing, pedestrian, and drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and lighting improvements. Crews will be taking delivery of materials, setting pier caps, working on drainage, and building the temporary trestle bridge. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

US 98 from Mount Zion Road to east of Old Stokes Road and from Keller Road to west of Ridge Road: Construction project: Project improvements include removing the old asphalt and resurfacing, drainage and shoulder improvements, tree removal and guardrail repairs. This week the contractor will continue shoulder widening and paving along US 98 during the day. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Use caution and be prepared to stop.

US 98 from Tucker Street to Bella Vista Street: Maintenance: Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews from the City of Lakeland work in the median Thursday night, January 25, 2024. Use caution and be prepared to merge.

US 92 from Recker Highway to Combee Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for lane closure in both directions from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through January 20, 2024, as the contractor reworks the shoulder of the road. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

US 92 from West of Jersey Road to West of SR 555 (US 17): Construction project: Project improvements include milling & resurfacing, constructing inside paved shoulders in the median, widening existing right-turn lanes to provide keyhole bicycle lanes, minor drainage improvements, and signal and lighting improvements at the Lynchburg Road intersection. Watch for daytime lane closures. This week the contractor will be installing advanced warning signs and erosion control devices.

US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.

• Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 60 throughout the project limits while crews mill and pave final friction.

• Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on US 27 southbound and northbound while crews mill and pave friction course.

• Motorists should expect lane shifts on Central Avenue and Frontage Road as final friction is paved.

US 27 from SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) to Kokomo Road: Construction project: This project includes removing and replacing the asphalt, reworking shoulders, and widening and adding a new signal at Kokomo Road. Watch for around the clock lane closures for guardrail work from SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) to SR 542 (Dundee Road) and daytime single lane closures, northbound and southbound, as needed for shoulder work throughout the rest of the project. US 17 from Hart Road to Gaines Road Permit Project: Maintenance permits: Watch for periodic lane closures and workers close to the road through late January 2024. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.

US 17/92 from US 27 Overpass West to Woodland Drive (Woodland Lakes Mobile Home Park): Maintenance contracts project: Watch for eastbound and westbound shoulder closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, February 9, as the contractor regrades and sods the outside shoulders. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. Work is anticipated to be completed in mid-2024. This is a Florida Turnpike Enterprise project. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from US 92 to I-4: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is widening a four-mile segment of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to four lanes, between Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 and south of Pace Road and resurfacing the existing 4-lane portions between US 92 and I-4 in Polk County. This project includes constructing a new interchange at Polk Parkway and

Braddock Road, widening Braddock Road from west of Polk Parkway to Berkley Road and constructing new electronic tolling points on Polk Parkway and Braddock Road ramps. Work also consists of resurfacing the ramps at CR 546, improving signage, pavement markings, signalization lighting and drainage throughout the project and improving local roads including the realignment of the City of Auburndale Water Treatment Plant access road and the neighborhood access road south of Braddock Road, as well as minor resurfacing on Berkley Road at the Braddock Road intersection. SR 570B (Central Polk Parkway): Turnpike project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is constructing Central Polk Parkway/State Road (SR) 570B, a new, four-lane (two lanes in each direction) tolled roadway. This new stretch of roadway will begin at Polk Parkway/SR 570 and Winter Lake Road/SR 540 and extend approximately 6.5 miles to US 17/SR 35. SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from east of US 17 to west of 1st Street: Construction project: Improvements under this Contract consist of resurfacing US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street, adding turn lanes, lengthening existing turn lanes, replacing the temporary traffic separators with a permanent concrete traffic separator on SR 540, improving crosswalk striping and adding pedestrian countdown signals, upgrading signal equipment and replacing streetlights with LED lights. Northbound 1st Street South at the intersection with SR 540 has been reduced to one lane and will remain that way as this is a permanent alignment. This week, crews will construct a curb and gutter, gravity wall, traffic separator, sidewalk, and earthwork for widening along US17, SR 540, and 1st Street.

• Northbound 1st Street South at the intersection with SR 540 has been reduced to one lane and will remain that way as this is a permanent alignment. A new permanent traffic separator is being built in the location of the old northbound inside lane.

• Southbound 1st Street South will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, 2024.

• SR 540 westbound approaching US 17 will be reduced to two lanes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, 2024.

• SR 540 eastbound from US 17 to 1st Street will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, 2024.

• US 17 northbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with SR 540 from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, 2024.

• US 17 southbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with SR 540 from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday, January 21, through Thursday, January 25, 2024.

• Use caution, be prepared to merge and expect delays.

SR 471 from SR35 (US 98) to Sumter County Line: Construction project: Improvements under this contract consists of milling and resurfacing, guardrail replacement, turn lane widening, overbuild and signing and pavement markings along SR 471 from SR 35 to Sumter County lime. Crews have placed barrier wall and shifted traffic slightly while they install new guardrail. The travel lanes at the Polk County/Sumter County line have been reduced to 10-feet in each direction for approximately 800 feet. Wide loads should plan on taking an alternate route. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing, use caution and be prepared to merge.

SR 33 from Old Combee Road to Lake County Line: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for northbound and southbound lane closure from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through February 14, 2024. Crews will be applying thermoplastic stripping along the road during the night. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop and watch for workers close to the road.

SARASOTA COUNTY

I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, drainage, retaining walls, and paving.

• Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

US 41 from North of Port Commons from north of Port Commons to State College of Florida, Sarasota: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing, guardrail, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signalization improvements. Expected completion is fall 2024.

• Crews will install barrier walls for upcoming lane shifts and close median openings at Blackburn Boulevard and Ortega Place, Palm Harbor Drive, Riverwalk Drive and De Miranda Avenue, Boardwalk and Myakka Drive. The median openings will be closed until February 9, 2024, as roadway crossover reconstruction begins.

• Removal of old drainage pipe continues throughout the project.

• Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists should use caution when making U-turns and be aware of workers in the area.

US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road is actively underway. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, as well as needed infrastructure improvements to drainage, curb and gutter.

• At the left turn from US 41 North turning onto SR 72 towards Siesta Key, the lane width will be reduced. Please use caution as drivers acclimate.

• Medians: crews will shift to working in the median throughout the project limits. Motorists can expect limited access to medians.

US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Landscaping: Crews have completed their 90 percent walk through for final completion. Temporary lane closures may be needed as crews complete work and address spot issues.

US 41 at Wellen Park Villages D&E Roundabouts: Permit project: Construction of two roundabouts is underway on US 41. Lane closures are required. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.

• Starting in approximately February, drivers can anticipate a traffic shift as construction moves to another work area.

SR 72 Clark Road and the Legacy Trail: Construction Project: Crews have begun constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue and just north of Rambler’s Rest RV Park on the northbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard. Drainage structure and pipe, curb and gutter, and gravity wall installations will also continue throughout the project. Signal and lighting work is also on-going throughout the project. Nighttime paving of the Venice Ave. and River Road intersection will begin Sunday night 1-21-24 through Thursday night 1-25-24. A flagging operation will be used to direct traffic through the operation. An off-duty officer will be onsite to assist. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations.

SR 789 John Ringling Causeway Bridge: Construction project: Work is near complete and only temporary flagging operations are possible if required.

SR 789 from Longboat Club Road to SR 64: Construction project: Crews will be placing concrete sidewalks through the corridor. Temporary lane closures will be needed so motorists should use caution.

• The week of January 28, crews will begin overnight paving.

SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: The ongoing resurfacing project will improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization. Paving on the project has started so motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.

• Motorists can expect a northbound I-75 ramp lane closure from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motorists should anticipate slower moving traffic or consider an alternate route.

• Noise from construction equipment should be anticipated for the duration.
